Kia EV6: Driver adjustments / Service warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The Kia EV6 service warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds as part of the normal system self-check process and then turns off automatically.

  • When the Kia EV6 detects a malfunction related to the electric vehicle control system, including sensors, control modules, or other EV-related electronic components.

If the warning light remains illuminated while driving or does not switch off after starting the Kia EV6, have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible by an authorized Kia dealer.

The Kia EV6 continuously monitors major electric vehicle systems to help maintain safe operation and proper battery management performance.

Airbag warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is in the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The airbag warning light appears for approximately 3–6 seconds during system initialization and then turns off normally.

  • When a malfunction is detected within the Kia EV6 Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), including airbags, sensors, seat belt pretensioners, or related safety components. If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer immediately.

The Kia EV6 SRS system is designed to provide additional occupant protection during certain collision situations.

Seat belt warning light

This warning light informs the Kia EV6 driver and passengers that one or more seat belts are not properly fastened.

The seat belt reminder system may also activate audible alerts depending on vehicle speed and seating occupancy conditions.

Parking brake and brake fluid warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The warning light appears for approximately 3 seconds during the normal instrument cluster self-check.

    • The light remains illuminated if the parking brake is currently applied.

  • Whenever the parking brake of the Kia EV6 is engaged.

  • When the brake fluid level inside the brake fluid reservoir becomes low.

    • If the warning light appears while the parking brake is fully released, it may indicate that the brake fluid level inside the reservoir is below the recommended level.

If the brake fluid level inside the reservoir is low:
  1. Drive the Kia EV6 carefully to the nearest safe location and stop the vehicle immediately.

  2. With the vehicle safely stopped, inspect the brake fluid level immediately and add the appropriate brake fluid if necessary (for more information, refer to the Brake fluid section). Also inspect all brake system components for possible fluid leaks. If a brake system leak is found, if the warning light remains illuminated, or if braking performance becomes abnormal, do not continue driving the Kia EV6.

    Have the vehicle transported to and inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Dual-diagonal braking system

The Kia EV6 is equipped with a dual-diagonal braking system. This means that partial braking capability remains available on two wheels even if one hydraulic circuit fails.

When only one portion of the braking system remains operational, increased brake pedal travel and greater pedal effort may be required to stop the Kia EV6 safely.

The stopping distance of the Kia EV6 may also increase when only part of the braking system is functioning correctly.

WARNING

Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Light

Driving the Kia EV6 while this warning light remains illuminated may be dangerous. If the parking brake & brake fluid warning light appears while the parking brake is released, the brake fluid level may be critically low.

In this situation, have the Kia EV6 inspected immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.

Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) warning light ABS

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is in the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The ABS warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds during system initialization and then turns off automatically.

  • When a malfunction occurs within the Kia EV6 Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), normal braking may still remain operational but without anti-lock braking assistance.

    If this warning appears, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

The ABS system helps improve braking stability and steering control during emergency braking situations on slippery or uneven road surfaces.

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) system warning light ABS

These two warning lights may illuminate simultaneously while driving:
  • When both the ABS system and the regular brake system of the Kia EV6 are not functioning normally.

    If this situation occurs, have the vehicle inspected immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) System Warning Light

When both the ABS warning light and the parking brake & brake fluid warning light remain illuminated, the Kia EV6 brake system may not operate normally and dangerous braking situations could occur during sudden stops.

In this case, avoid high-speed driving, rapid acceleration, and abrupt braking maneuvers.

Have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

Regenerative brake warning light (Red color) (Yellow color)

This warning light appears under the following conditions:

When the regenerative braking system of the Kia EV6 does not operate properly and braking performance becomes reduced. Under these conditions, both the Brake Warning Light (red) and the Regenerative Brake Warning Light (yellow) may illuminate simultaneously.

Drive carefully and have the Kia EV6 inspected immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.

Brake pedal operation may feel heavier than normal, and the overall stopping distance of the Kia EV6 may increase because the vehicle switches to manual hydraulic braking mode.

The regenerative braking system of the Kia EV6 normally helps recover energy during deceleration and contributes to improved electric driving efficiency.

Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button of the Kia EV6 is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The MDPS warning light remains illuminated until the Kia EV6 completes its steering system self-check procedure after startup.

    • The warning light may remain on if a malfunction is detected within the Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) system.

  • When the Kia EV6 detects an abnormal condition or malfunction within the MDPS system.

    In this situation, have the Kia EV6 inspected as soon as possible by an authorized Kia dealer.

The Motor Driven Power Steering system of the Kia EV6 is designed to provide smoother steering operation, improved driving comfort, and enhanced steering efficiency under different driving conditions.

Charging system warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When a malfunction occurs within the Kia EV6 charging system, electrical power supply system, or related charging control components.

  • If the warning light turns on while driving the Kia EV6, safely move the vehicle to a secure location, switch the vehicle OFF and ON again, and verify whether the warning light disappears. If the warning light remains illuminated, have the vehicle inspected immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.

  • Even if the warning light turns off temporarily, it is still recommended to have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to prevent possible future charging system issues.

    If you continue driving the Kia EV6 while the charging system warning light remains illuminated, vehicle speed may become limited and the 12-volt battery could gradually discharge.

The Kia EV6 electrical charging management system continuously monitors battery charging performance and electrical stability to help maintain reliable vehicle operation.

High voltage battery low level warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the high-voltage battery level of the Kia EV6 becomes critically low.

    When this warning light turns on, recharge the Kia EV6 battery immediately to help avoid power limitation or reduced driving range.

The Kia EV6 battery monitoring system is designed to alert the driver before the remaining battery charge becomes insufficient for normal driving operation.

Power down indicator light

This indicator appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is in the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

  • When the Kia EV6 limits available driving power in order to protect high-voltage electric vehicle components and maintain safe system operation. (Unless both the Service Warning Light and Power Down Indicator Light appear simultaneously, this condition does not necessarily indicate a malfunction.)

    • The high-voltage battery charge level is extremely low or battery voltage is rapidly decreasing.

    • The high-voltage battery temperature is excessively high or extremely low.

    • The temperature of the Kia EV6 electric drive motor has exceeded the normal operating range.

NOTE

Avoid sudden acceleration or aggressive driving maneuvers while the Power Down Indicator Light is illuminated on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster.

Recharge the high-voltage battery immediately whenever the remaining battery level becomes insufficient.

NOTE

When the remaining Kia EV6 battery power becomes very low, the Power Down Indicator Light illuminates and available vehicle output power may be restricted automatically.

Recharge the Kia EV6 battery immediately. Otherwise, climbing steep hills or maintaining vehicle movement may become difficult, and the vehicle could potentially roll backward on inclines.

Low tire pressure warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button of the Kia EV6 is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The low tire pressure warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds during system self-check and then turns off normally.

  • When one or more tires of the Kia EV6 become significantly underinflated.

For additional information, refer to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) section of the Kia EV6 owner’s manual.

This warning light may remain illuminated after blinking for approximately 60 seconds, or may repeatedly blink at intervals of approximately 3 seconds under the following conditions:
  • When a malfunction is detected within the Kia EV6 Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

    In this case, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING

Low Tire Pressure

  • Driving the Kia EV6 with significantly low tire pressure may reduce vehicle stability, increase braking distances, and contribute to possible loss of vehicle control.

  • Continued operation with underinflated tires may cause overheating, accelerated tire wear, or sudden tire failure.

WARNING

Safe Stopping

  • The Kia EV6 TPMS system cannot warn the driver about sudden or severe tire damage caused by road hazards or external impacts.

  • If any abnormal vibration, instability, or tire-related issue is noticed, immediately remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, apply the brakes gradually using light pressure, and carefully move the Kia EV6 to a safe location away from traffic.

Master warning light

This warning light informs the Kia EV6 driver about the following situations:
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist malfunction

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist radar blockage or obstruction

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist malfunction

  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist radar blockage

  • Smart Cruise Control malfunction

  • Smart Cruise Control radar blockage

  • Exterior or interior lamp malfunction

  • High Beam Assist (HBA) malfunction

To identify the exact warning condition, check the Kia EV6 LCD display for additional messages and detailed system information.

The Kia EV6 Master Warning system is designed to notify the driver whenever important safety systems or vehicle assistance technologies require attention.

Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) warning light EPB

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button of the Kia EV6 is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The Electronic Parking Brake warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds during the normal Kia EV6 system self-check procedure and then turns off automatically.

  • When the Kia EV6 detects a malfunction within the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system.

    If this occurs, have the Kia EV6 inspected as soon as possible by an authorized Kia dealer.

The Electronic Parking Brake system in the Kia EV6 is designed to improve parking convenience, braking stability, and driver safety during vehicle operation.

NOTE

Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Warning Light

The Kia EV6 EPB warning light may illuminate when the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) indicator light also turns on, indicating that the ESC system is not operating correctly. This condition does not necessarily indicate a malfunction of the EPB system itself.

LED headlamp warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The Kia EV6 LED headlamp warning light appears for approximately 3 seconds during system initialization and then turns off normally.

  • When a malfunction is detected within the Kia EV6 LED headlamp system.

If this warning light appears, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

This warning light blinks under the following conditions:
  • When a malfunction occurs in a component related to the Kia EV6 LED headlamp system.

In this case, have the vehicle inspected promptly by an authorized Kia dealer.

The advanced LED headlamp system of the Kia EV6 is designed to provide improved nighttime visibility, energy efficiency, and modern lighting performance.

CAUTION

LED Headlamp Warning Light

Continuing to drive the Kia EV6 while the LED Headlamp Warning Light remains illuminated or blinking may reduce the lifespan and performance of the LED low-beam headlamps.

Forward Safety warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button of the Kia EV6 is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position. The warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds and then turns off.

  • Yellow: When the Kia EV6 Forward Safety function or Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system has been deselected, disabled, temporarily unavailable, or when a malfunction is detected.

    • If the yellow warning light remains illuminated after the sensor area has been cleaned or unblocked while Forward Safety is enabled, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

This warning light blinks under the following conditions:

  • Red: When the Kia EV6 Forward Safety or Forward Cross-Traffic Safety function is actively operating to assist the driver.

The Kia EV6 Forward Safety system uses advanced radar and camera technologies to help detect potential collision risks and assist the driver in avoiding accidents.

Emergency steering warning light : (if equipped)

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • Yellow:

    • When the EV button is in the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position. The light appears for approximately 3 seconds and then turns off normally.

    • When the Kia EV6 detects that the Forward/Side Safety function of the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system is OFF, disabled, blocked, or malfunctioning. Under these conditions, the warning light remains illuminated continuously.

  • Red:

    • When the Kia EV6 Emergency Steering Assist system is actively operating to help avoid a potential collision. Under these conditions, the red warning light blinks.

The Kia EV6 Emergency Steering system is designed to provide additional steering assistance during emergency situations where collision avoidance support is required.

All-Whee Drive (AWD) warning light : (if equipped)

This warning light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

    • The Kia EV6 AWD warning light appears for approximately 3 seconds during the normal system self-check and then turns off automatically.

  • When a malfunction is detected within the Kia EV6 All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system.

If this warning appears, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

The Kia EV6 AWD system is designed to improve traction, acceleration stability, and driving control on slippery or uneven road surfaces.

Door Ajar warning light

This warning light appears under the following conditions:

When one or more doors of the Kia EV6 are not fully closed or securely latched.

Before driving, always confirm that every door is completely closed to help maintain passenger safety and reduce wind noise inside the vehicle.

Inattentive Driving indicator light

This indicator light appears under the following conditions:
  • When the EV button is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position. The indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds and then turns off normally.

  • Yellow: When the Kia EV6 Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system is disabled or when a malfunction is detected. If the yellow indicator light remains illuminated after the front view camera has been cleaned or unblocked, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

This indicator light blinks under the following conditions:
  • Yellow: When the Kia EV6 Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system recommends that the driver take a break because inattentive driving behavior has been detected.

The Kia EV6 DAW system monitors driving behavior and steering patterns to help reduce the risk of fatigue-related driving situations.

Liftgate open warning light

This warning light illuminates under the following conditions:

When the Kia EV6 liftgate is not securely closed or latched properly.

Driving with the liftgate partially open may allow exhaust gases, dust, or outside noise to enter the vehicle cabin and may also increase the risk of cargo movement.

Washer fluid warning light

This warning light illuminates under the following conditions:
  • When the windshield washer fluid level inside the Kia EV6 washer reservoir becomes low or nearly empty.

    In this situation, refill the washer fluid reservoir using a suitable washer solution as soon as possible.

The Kia EV6 washer fluid monitoring system helps maintain proper windshield cleaning performance and driver visibility during rain, snow, or dusty road conditions.

Indicator lights

The indicator lights in the Kia EV6 instrument cluster provide visual confirmation that specific vehicle systems, driving assistance technologies, and convenience functions are currently active or operating normally.

These indicator lights help the driver quickly monitor important vehicle statuses and understand when certain safety or driving features are enabled.

Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Remote Smart Parking Assist check

Check Parking Assist Visit a nearby service center. If Remote Smart Parking Assist in the Kia EV6 is not functioning correctly, a Check Parking Assist warning message will appear on the infotainment display. When this message is shown, discontinue use of the system and have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer or qualified service facility.
