Driver’s seat belt warning

As a reminder to the driver, the Kia EV6 driver’s seat belt warning light illuminates and the warning chime sounds for approximately 6 seconds whenever the EV button is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position, regardless of whether the driver’s seat belt is fastened.

The Kia EV6 seat belt reminder system is designed to encourage proper seat belt use and improve occupant safety during vehicle operation.

If the Kia EV6 begins moving without the driver’s seat belt fastened at speeds above 5 mph (9 km/h) and below 12 mph (20 km/h), the corresponding warning light remains illuminated.

The warning light turns off automatically when the Kia EV6 vehicle speed decreases below 5 mph (9 km/h).

If the Kia EV6 is driven at speeds of 12 mph (20 km/h) or higher without the driver’s seat belt fastened, the warning light flashes continuously and the warning chime sounds for approximately 100 seconds.

When the Kia EV6 driver’s seat belt is unfastened during driving:

The warning light illuminates continuously when vehicle speed exceeds 5 mph (9 km/h) but remains below 12 mph (20 km/h).
When the Kia EV6 speed reaches 12 mph (20 km/h) or higher, the warning light flashes and the warning chime sounds for approximately 100 seconds.

The Kia EV6 seat belt reminder system helps improve driver awareness and encourages safer driving habits for all occupants.

Front passenger’s seat belt warning

As a reminder to the driver, the Kia EV6 front passenger seat belt warning lights illuminate for approximately 6 seconds whenever the EV button is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position regardless of seat belt fastening status.

If the Kia EV6 begins driving without the front passenger seat belt fastened at speeds above 5 mph (9 km/h) and below 12 mph (20 km/h), the corresponding warning light remains illuminated.

The warning light turns off automatically when the Kia EV6 speed falls below 5 mph (9 km/h).

If the Kia EV6 is driven at speeds of 12 mph (20 km/h) or faster without the front passenger seat belt fastened, the warning light flashes and the warning chime sounds for approximately 100 seconds.

When the front passenger seat belt is unfastened during Kia EV6 driving operation:

The warning light illuminates when the Kia EV6 speed is above 5 mph (9 km/h) and below 12 mph (20 km/h).
When the Kia EV6 speed reaches 12 mph (20 km/h) or more, the warning light flashes and the warning chime sounds for approximately 100 seconds.

NOTE

Even when the Kia EV6 front passenger seat is unoccupied, the front passenger seat belt warning light may still illuminate for approximately 6 seconds during startup.

The Kia EV6 front passenger seat belt warning system may activate if luggage, heavy objects, or cargo are placed on the front passenger seat.

As a reminder to rear passengers, the Kia EV6 rear seat belt warning lights appear for approximately 6 seconds whenever the vehicle is switched to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position, regardless of seat belt fastening status.

If the Kia EV6 begins moving while a rear seat belt remains unfastened, the corresponding seat belt warning light appears for approximately 70 seconds.

If a rear passenger unfastens the seat belt while the Kia EV6 is traveling below 12 mph (20 km/h), the warning light remains illuminated for approximately 70 seconds.

If a rear passenger unfastens the seat belt while the Kia EV6 is traveling above 12 mph (20 km/h), the warning chime sounds for approximately 35 seconds and the corresponding warning light flashes.

If a Kia EV6 rear door is opened or closed while driving below 6 mph (10 km/h), the seat belt warning light and warning sound may not activate even when vehicle speed later exceeds 12 mph (20 km/h).

Unfastening the Kia EV6 seat belt before the vehicle comes to a complete stop may trigger the seat belt reminder warning light and warning chime.

This warning may continue for up to 35 seconds after exiting the Kia EV6.

For maximum safety, always unfasten the seat belt only after the Kia EV6 has completely stopped.

WARNING

Improper seating posture may negatively affect the operation of the Kia EV6 front seat belt warning system.

The driver should always instruct all passengers to sit correctly and use their seat belts properly as described in the Kia EV6 owner’s manual.

When the airbags in the Kia EV6 deploy, a loud noise will be heard and smoke or powder may appear inside the cabin. This is a normal result of the airbag inflator operation and does not indicate a fire. Following deployment, occupants may experience temporary breathing discomfort caused by the force of the seat belt, airbag deployment, and exposure to the harmless smoke and powder released during inflation.

The Kia EV6 allows the driver to adjust the height and position of the rearview mirror to match individual driving posture and seating preferences. For the best possible visibility, adjust the rearview mirror while seated in your normal driving position before operating the vehicle. To adjust the mirror angle manually, switch the system to optical mirror mode and carefully move the rearview mirror upward or downward until the desired viewing angle is achieved.
