Safe Exit Warning malfunction

Kia EV6 Driver Assistance system malfunction warning displayed on instrument cluster
  1. Check Driver Assistance system

If the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system is not functioning correctly, a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster for several seconds together with the Master Warning light (Kia EV6 Master Warning indicator icon).

If a malfunction is detected in the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system, an additional warning notification may appear on the cluster display and the Master Warning light (Kia EV6 Master Warning light for Safe Exit Warning malfunction) will remain illuminated.

These warnings indicate that the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system may require inspection, calibration, or service.

If the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system does not operate normally, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system depends on rear corner radar sensors, mirror warning indicators, and electronic control modules to monitor approaching vehicles near the rear side area.

Have the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer whenever a warning message remains active or system operation becomes abnormal.

  1. Check side view mirror warning light

If the Kia EV6 outside rear view mirror warning indicator does not operate properly, a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster for several seconds together with the Master Warning light (Kia EV6 side mirror warning system malfunction indicator).

Proper operation of the Kia EV6 mirror warning indicators is essential for Safe Exit Warning performance and rear-side hazard detection.

If this condition occurs, have the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Safe Exit Warning disabled

If the Kia EV6 rear bumper area around the rear corner radar sensors becomes covered with foreign material such as snow, ice, mud, rain, slush, or road debris, the detection performance of Safe Exit Warning may become temporarily limited or disabled.

Installing accessories such as a trailer, bicycle rack, cargo carrier, or other rear-mounted equipment near the Kia EV6 rear bumper may also interfere with radar detection performance.

Kia EV6 Driver Assistance system limited radar blocked warning notification
  1. Driver Assistance system limited. Radar blocked.

Under these conditions, the Kia EV6 instrument cluster may display a warning message together with the Master Warning light (Kia EV6 radar blocked warning indicator).

In most situations, this does not indicate a permanent malfunction of the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system.

The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system should resume normal operation after foreign material is removed from the sensors or any obstruction such as a trailer or carrier is removed from the rear bumper area.

After cleaning the sensors or removing the obstruction, restart the Kia EV6 to allow the system to reinitialize correctly.

If the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system still does not operate properly after cleaning the sensors or removing the obstruction, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING

  • Even if no warning message appears on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster, Safe Exit Warning may still not operate properly.

  • The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system may not function correctly in open terrain or environments where surrounding objects are not easily detected immediately after vehicle startup.

  • If the Kia EV6 rear corner radar sensors remain blocked by snow, rain, mud, dirt, or debris immediately after startup, detection performance may become temporarily limited.

  • Heavy weather conditions such as snowstorms, dense fog, or intense rainfall may temporarily reduce Kia EV6 radar sensor effectiveness.

  • Always visually check surrounding traffic conditions before opening the doors of the Kia EV6, even when Safe Exit Warning is active.

NOTE

You can check the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system status through the service message section of the utility information display on the instrument cluster.

CAUTION

Turn OFF the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Warning system before installing or removing a trailer, carrier, bicycle rack, or other rear attachment.

Turn Safe Exit Warning back ON after installation or removal is complete and verify proper system operation.
