The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system supports the following warning and safety functions:

A: Collision Warning
If the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system detects an approaching vehicle from the rear side area while a passenger attempts to exit the vehicle, the outside rear view mirror warning light will blink and a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster.
The Kia EV6 will additionally generate an audible warning sound to help alert passengers to possible danger.
Kia EV6 Collision Warning may activate under the following approximate conditions:
Your Kia EV6 speed is below approximately 2 mph (3 km/h).
The speed of the approaching rear vehicle is above approximately 4 mph (6 km/h).
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist feature is especially helpful when parked along busy streets, near bicycle lanes, or in areas with limited visibility.
Safe Exit Assist linked with Electronic child safety lock

If the Kia EV6 detects an approaching vehicle while the electronic child safety lock is active, the outside rear view mirror warning light will blink and a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster.
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system may temporarily prevent the rear doors from unlocking to help avoid opening the doors into approaching traffic.
Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist linked with Electronic child safety lock may operate under the following approximate conditions:
Your Kia EV6 speed is below approximately 2 mph (3 km/h).
The speed of the approaching rear vehicle is above approximately 4 mph (6 km/h).
NOTE
For additional information regarding the Kia EV6 electronic child safety lock button, refer to the Electronic child safety lock section.
WARNING
If the driver presses the Kia EV6 electronic child safety lock button again within approximately 10 seconds after the warning message appears, the system assumes the driver acknowledges surrounding traffic conditions.
In this situation, the electronic child safety lock will turn OFF (button indicator OFF) and the rear doors will unlock.
Always carefully check surrounding traffic conditions before disabling the Kia EV6 electronic child safety lock.
NOTE
If you attempt to open a rear door from outside the Kia EV6, the door may open regardless of Safe Exit Assist operation.
WARNING
For safety reasons, only adjust Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist settings after parking the vehicle in a safe location.
If another Kia EV6 driver assistance system warning or audible alert is already active, Safe Exit Assist warning messages or sounds may not be displayed or heard.
You may not clearly hear the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist warning sound in noisy surroundings or heavy traffic conditions.
Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist does not operate in every situation and cannot prevent all possible accidents or collisions.
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system may provide delayed warnings or may not warn depending on road conditions, weather, traffic flow, or approaching vehicle speed.
Always visually check surrounding traffic conditions before exiting the vehicle.
The driver and passengers are fully responsible for accidents or injuries that occur while exiting the Kia EV6.
Do not intentionally test the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system, as doing so may result in serious injury or death.
Never rely solely on Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist to detect motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, or small fast-moving vehicles.
NOTE
After the Kia EV6 is turned OFF, Safe Exit Assist continues operating for approximately 3 minutes.
However, the system turns OFF immediately if the doors are locked.
The displayed Kia EV6 graphics, warning images, and colors may vary depending on instrument cluster specifications, software version, or selected display theme.
Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist performance may temporarily decrease during heavy rain, snow, fog, or poor visibility conditions.

The Rear View Monitor image remains active when the following conditions are satisfied: The gear is shifted from R (Reverse) to N (Neutral) or D (Drive). Highway Driving Assist in the Kia EV6 detects lane markings and vehicles ahead to help maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, keep the selected driving speed, and assist with keeping the vehicle centered in its lane while traveling on a highway or motorway. Highway Lane Change Assist (if equipped) Highway Lane Change Assist helps the Kia EV6 change lanes in the direction indicated by the turn signal switch when the system determines that the lane change can be performed safely.
