If the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system is not operating properly, a warning message will appear on the instrument
cluster for several seconds together with the Master Warning light (
).
If a malfunction is detected in the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system, an additional warning message may appear on
the
cluster display and the Master Warning light (
) will illuminate.
These warnings indicate that the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system may require inspection, calibration, or service.
If the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system does not function correctly, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system depends on rear corner radar sensors, electronic control modules, mirror warning indicators, and vehicle communication systems to monitor approaching traffic near the vehicle.
Always have the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer whenever warning messages remain active or abnormal operation continues.

If the Kia EV6 outside rear view mirror warning indicator is not operating properly, a warning message will
appear on
the instrument cluster together with the Master Warning light (
).
Proper operation of the Kia EV6 mirror warning indicators is essential for accurate Safe Exit Assist notifications and passenger safety support.
If this condition occurs, have the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system inspected and repaired by an authorized Kia dealer.
Safe Exit Assist disabled
If the rear bumper area around the Kia EV6 rear corner radar sensors becomes covered with foreign material such as snow, ice, mud, slush, rain, or road debris, detection performance may become temporarily limited or disabled.
Installing accessories such as a trailer, bicycle rack, cargo carrier, or similar attachment near the Kia EV6 rear bumper may also interfere with radar sensor operation.

|
Under these conditions, the Kia EV6 instrument cluster may display a warning message together with the Master
Warning
light (
).
In most cases, this does not indicate a permanent malfunction of the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system.
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system should resume normal operation after foreign material is removed from the sensors or after any obstruction such as a trailer or carrier is removed from the rear bumper area.
After cleaning the sensors or removing the obstruction, restart the Kia EV6 to allow the system to reinitialize properly.
If the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system still does not operate correctly after cleaning the sensors or removing the obstruction, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
WARNING
Even if no warning message appears on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster, Safe Exit Assist may still not operate properly.
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system may not function correctly in open terrain or areas where surrounding objects are difficult to detect immediately after vehicle startup.
If the Kia EV6 rear corner radar sensors remain blocked by snow, rain, mud, dirt, or debris immediately after startup, radar detection performance may become temporarily limited.
Heavy weather conditions such as snowstorms, dense fog, or intense rainfall may temporarily reduce Kia EV6 radar sensor effectiveness.
Always visually check surrounding traffic conditions before opening the doors of the Kia EV6, even when Safe Exit Assist is active.
NOTE
You can check the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system status through the service message section of the utility information display on the instrument cluster.
CAUTION
Turn OFF the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system before installing or removing a trailer, carrier, bicycle rack, or similar rear attachment.
Turn Safe Exit Assist back ON after installation or removal is complete and verify proper system operation.
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system may operate unexpectedly, become temporarily limited, or fail to provide accurate warnings under certain environmental or traffic conditions.
Because the Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system relies on rear corner radar sensors and electronic monitoring systems, performance may vary depending on road conditions, weather, visibility, and surrounding traffic.
Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist may operate abnormally or provide delayed warnings under the following circumstances:
Exiting the Kia EV6 in areas where trees, bushes, or tall grass are overgrown near the roadway.
Exiting the Kia EV6 on wet roads, slippery pavement, reflective surfaces, or standing water.
The approaching vehicle is traveling at a very high speed or extremely low speed.
Heavy rain, snow, fog, or poor visibility conditions interfere with Kia EV6 radar sensor detection.
The Kia EV6 rear bumper area near the radar sensors is obstructed by dirt, mud, snow, or accessories.
Strong electromagnetic interference affects Kia EV6 radar sensor communication or detection performance.
NOTE
For more detailed information regarding Kia EV6 rear corner radar operation and limitations, refer to the Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) section.
WARNING
The Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist system may not operate properly if affected by strong electromagnetic interference or abnormal radar sensor conditions.
Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist may require approximately 3 seconds to initialize after restarting the vehicle or reactivating the rear corner radar sensors.
Even after restarting the Kia EV6, Safe Exit Assist may continue operating abnormally if the obstruction or malfunction condition persists.
Never rely solely on Kia EV6 Safe Exit Assist when exiting the vehicle. Always directly check surrounding traffic conditions and possible hazards.
The driver and passengers remain fully responsible for safely exiting the Kia EV6 at all times.
The electronic systems installed in the Kia EV6 comply with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and are designed to meet modern electromagnetic compatibility standards.
Operation of Kia EV6 electronic equipment is subject to the following two conditions:
This device may not cause harmful interference to other electronic systems or communication equipment, and
this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation of certain Kia EV6 functions.
TIP
Changes, modifications, or unauthorized alterations not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance may void the user’s authority to operate Kia EV6 electronic equipment.
