Kia EV6: Driving your vehicle / Regenerative braking system

Contents:

The Kia EV6 regenerative braking system helps recharge the high-voltage battery while slowing down or braking the vehicle, improving overall driving efficiency and helping extend electric driving range.

Regenerative braking (Paddle shifter)

The Kia EV6 paddle shifter system allows the driver to manually adjust the regenerative braking level from 0 to 3 while decelerating or braking, helping improve driving efficiency and battery energy recovery.

  • Left side ( Kia EV6 left paddle shifter for increasing regenerative braking): Increases Kia EV6 regenerative braking force and deceleration level.

  • Right side ( Kia EV6 right paddle shifter for decreasing regenerative braking): Reduces regenerative braking intensity and decreases deceleration.

Pull and hold the left-side Kia EV6 paddle shifter for more than 0.5 seconds to activate the One Pedal Driving function, which significantly increases regenerative braking.

While using this Kia EV6 feature, the vehicle can be brought to a complete stop simply by continuing to hold the paddle shifter.

For additional details, refer to the One Pedal Driving section.

Pull and hold the right-side Kia EV6 paddle shifter for more than 0.5 seconds to switch the Smart Regeneration System automatic braking adjustment ON or OFF.

For additional information, refer to the Smart Regeneration System section.

NOTE

The Kia EV6 paddle shifter system does not operate under the following conditions:

  • Both the ( Kia EV6 left regenerative paddle shifter icon) and ( Kia EV6 right regenerative paddle shifter icon) paddle shifters are pulled simultaneously.

  • The Kia EV6 is already decelerating because the brake pedal is being pressed.

  • Smart Cruise Control is currently activated.

  • The Kia EV6 regenerative braking system is limited because the high-voltage battery state of charge has reached 100%.

The Kia EV6 paddle shifter operation may be restricted under the following conditions:

  • SNOW mode is selected in the DRIVE MODE system.

  • A trailer is attached to the Kia EV6.

The currently selected Kia EV6 regenerative braking level is displayed on the instrument cluster for easy driver reference.
