Kia EV6 rear seatback recline adjustment and passenger seating configuration

To recline the Kia EV6 rear seatback:

  1. Lift the rear seatback recliner lever.

  2. Hold the lever while adjusting the Kia EV6 rear seatback to the desired angle.

  3. Release the lever and verify that the rear seatback locks securely into place.

The lever MUST return fully to its original position for the Kia EV6 rear seatback locking mechanism to engage correctly.

The adjustable rear seatback design of the Kia EV6 improves rear passenger comfort and flexibility during daily driving or long-distance travel.

Folding the rear seat

The rear seatbacks of the Kia EV6 can be folded down to help accommodate longer cargo items and to significantly increase luggage and cargo carrying capacity.

The flexible rear seating configuration of the Kia EV6 improves practicality for transporting oversized items, sports equipment, luggage, and daily cargo.

WARNING

Folded Seatback

The fold-down rear seatback system of the Kia EV6 is designed specifically to increase cargo flexibility for transporting larger objects that may not otherwise fit inside the vehicle.

  • Never allow passengers to sit or ride on a folded rear seatback while the Kia EV6 is moving.

This is not a proper seating position because seat belts and occupant restraint systems cannot be used correctly.

  • To reduce the risk of injuries caused by shifting cargo inside the Kia EV6 passenger compartment, objects loaded on folded rear seats should never extend above the height of the front seatbacks.

Folding down the rear seatback

  1. Move the Kia EV6 front seatbacks into the upright position and, if necessary, slide the front seats slightly forward to provide additional clearance for rear seat folding.

  2. Lower the Kia EV6 rear headrests completely by pressing the headrest release button (1) while simultaneously pushing the headrest downward (2).

    WARNING

    Objects

Objects placed on the folded Kia EV6 rear seatback should never extend higher than the upper portion of the front seatbacks.

During sudden braking or collisions, unsecured cargo may slide forward unexpectedly and cause injury or damage to passengers or the vehicle interior.

  3. Route the Kia EV6 rear seat belt webbing toward the outer side of the rear seats to prevent the belts from becoming trapped underneath or behind the folding seatbacks.

  4. Pull the Kia EV6 rear seatback folding lever and fold the seatback forward toward the front of the vehicle.

  6. Return the Kia EV6 rear seat belts to their normal seating positions before allowing passengers to use the rear seats.

WARNING

Uprighting the Seat

When returning the Kia EV6 rear seatback to the upright position, always hold the seatback firmly and guide it slowly.

If the seatback is released suddenly, it may spring forward unexpectedly and strike the driver or passengers, potentially causing injuries.

WARNING

Rear Seatback

To help ensure maximum occupant protection during a collision or sudden stop, follow these precautions whenever returning the Kia EV6 rear seatback to the upright position:

  • Be careful not to damage the Kia EV6 seat belt webbing or seat belt buckles.

  • Do not allow the rear seatback to pinch, trap, or crush the seat belt webbing or buckle assembly.

  • Always verify that the Kia EV6 rear seatback is completely locked by pushing firmly on the upper section of the seatback after raising it.

Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or death during an accident.

WARNING

Unless the Kia EV6 driver’s seat is adjusted correctly according to the driver’s physical size and seating posture, do not fold the rear seats.

Improper seating position may increase the risk of injury during sudden braking or collisions.

WARNING

Cargo

Always secure cargo and luggage properly inside the Kia EV6 cargo compartment to prevent objects from shifting during driving.

Loose objects may be thrown around the interior during sudden stops or collisions and could injure vehicle occupants.

Do not place unsecured objects directly on the Kia EV6 rear seats because they may strike front seat occupants during an accident.

CAUTION

Damaging Rear Seat Belt Buckles

When folding the Kia EV6 rear seatback, place the seat belt buckle carefully between the rear seat cushion and seatback.

This helps prevent the seatback from damaging the buckle or surrounding trim components.

CAUTION

Rear Seat Belts

When returning the Kia EV6 rear seatbacks to the upright position, always reposition the rear shoulder belts correctly to ensure proper passenger restraint operation.

CAUTION

Be careful when loading cargo through the Kia EV6 rear passenger compartment to avoid scratching, tearing, or damaging interior trim panels and seat materials.

Seatback remote folding

The Kia EV6 rear seatbacks can also be folded remotely by pulling the rear seatback folding switches (1, 2) located on both sides of the cargo area.

The remote folding function allows faster cargo area expansion when loading larger items into the Kia EV6 luggage compartment.

WARNING

Rear Seat Folding

Do not fold the Kia EV6 rear seats while passengers, pets, or luggage are occupying the rear seating area.

Unexpected seat movement may cause injuries or damage to passengers, animals, cargo, or vehicle interior components.
