The Kia EV6 Over-The-Air (OTA) software update system allows wireless installation of the latest software versions for supported vehicle systems.
Using Kia EV6 OTA updates helps maintain optimal system performance, improve vehicle functionality, and provide access to the latest software enhancements without visiting a service center.
The latest Kia EV6 software updates can be downloaded automatically while driving.
After the software download is completed successfully, a notification appears on the Kia EV6 display screen or through the connected smartphone application indicating that the update is ready for installation.

After the Kia EV6 is switched OFF, the system allows you to begin the software installation process.
To start the Kia EV6 software update immediately, press Update Now (1).
To postpone the Kia EV6 update process, press Later (2).

If the Update Now button is selected, the Kia EV6 automatically begins preparing and installing the software update.
The following conditions must be satisfied before the Kia EV6 software installation process can begin:
The vehicle must be switched OFF.
The transmission selector must remain in P (Park).
The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) must be applied.
All exterior lights must be switched OFF.
The hood must remain completely closed.
The Kia EV6 auxiliary battery charge level must be sufficient.
The systems being updated must not currently be operating.
To begin the Kia EV6 update immediately, press Update Now.
To stop or postpone the update process, press Cancel Update.

The Kia EV6 automatically checks battery condition, software compatibility, and system status before beginning the OTA installation procedure.

The Kia EV6 update progress can be monitored directly from the infotainment display while the software installation is in progress.
Once the Kia EV6 Over-The-Air software update has been completed successfully, you will receive a confirmation notification through the Kia Access application or on the vehicle display screen.
TIP
To help preserve auxiliary battery power, the Kia EV6 display screen automatically switches OFF after approximately 3 minutes during the update process. If the display turns off, you can check the software installation progress again by pressing the EV button.
You may safely exit the Kia EV6 after the update installation process begins.
The Kia EV6 Over-The-Air (OTA) software update feature is available only for active Kia Connect service users.
The available Kia EV6 update functions and installation details may vary depending on the currently installed software version.

If the Kia EV6 software installation fails, the system automatically attempts a recovery process. If you wish to retry the update after recovery has completed, contact an authorized Kia customer support center.
If the Kia EV6 update or recovery process cannot be completed successfully, contact an authorized Kia dealer for assistance.
After the Kia EV6 software update is completed, new functions, system improvements, or updated features may become available. Additional information can be found on the Over-The-Air Software Update page on the Kia website, by scanning the QR code displayed on the infotainment screen, or through the Customer Center > Download Center section of the user manual.
NOTE
Observe the following Kia EV6 restrictions during the software update process:
The Kia EV6 cannot be driven while the software update is in progress. Before starting the installation, ensure the vehicle is safely parked and sufficient time is available to complete the update.
Remote vehicle functions, including remote start features, may be temporarily unavailable during the Kia EV6 update procedure.
The Kia EV6 charging system cannot be used during the update. Charge the vehicle only after the software installation is fully completed.
The Rear Occupant Alert system may not operate while the Kia EV6 software update is active. Always verify that no passengers or pets remain inside the rear seating area before beginning the update.
If the digital key function is included within the Kia EV6 software update package, digital key or fingerprint authentication door lock/unlock features may be temporarily unavailable. Refer to the update notice and use the physical smart key buttons if necessary.
The Kia EV6 software update process automatically cancels if any required vehicle conditions change before installation begins.
Once the Kia EV6 software update has started, the installation process cannot be canceled manually.
The Kia EV6 Over-The-Air update feature may not function correctly if vehicle software has been modified, replaced, or altered using unauthorized methods.
Do not open the Kia EV6 hood or replace the vehicle battery during the update process, as this may interrupt or fail the installation.
During the Kia EV6 update procedure, the high-voltage charging module responsible for charging the 12-volt battery may activate automatically.
If any diagnostic equipment is connected to the Kia EV6 OBD (On-board Diagnostic) port, the vehicle cannot perform the update. Disconnect the diagnostic tool and restart the vehicle before attempting the installation again.
Contact Kia customer support if the Kia EV6 software update cannot be completed successfully.
