If a multi fuse in the Kia EV6 becomes damaged or blown, follow the procedure below for replacement:
Press the EV button to the OFF position and switch off all electrical equipment.
Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable to prevent accidental electrical contact during service.
Remove the retaining nuts shown in the illustration above.
Carefully remove the faulty multi fuse and install a replacement fuse with the identical rating and specification.
Reassemble all components by reversing the removal procedure and ensure all fasteners are properly tightened.
DANGER
Do not attempt to disassemble or reassemble a multi fuse that is secured using nuts and bolts unless specifically instructed by Kia service procedures. Improper installation, insufficient torque, or incomplete assembly may create excessive resistance, overheating, electrical arcing, and potentially a vehicle fire.
If a multi fuse has failed, Kia strongly recommends having the Kia EV6 inspected and repaired by an authorized Kia dealer.
Main Fuse
|
If the main fuse (multi-fuse assembly) in the Kia EV6 becomes blown, follow these steps:
Turn the EV button off and switch off all electrical accessories and vehicle systems.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the retaining nuts illustrated above.
Replace the damaged main fuse with a new fuse of identical specification and amperage rating.
Reinstall all components in the reverse order of removal and verify proper attachment of all electrical connections.
NOTE
The electronic systems of the Kia EV6 may occasionally experience operational issues even when all individual fuses inside both the motor compartment fuse panel and interior fuse panel appear normal.
In some situations, the cause may be a failed main fuse (BFT type) located beneath the positive battery terminal (+) cover.
Because the BFT main fuse assembly is considerably more complex than standard blade or cartridge fuses, Kia recommends having the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer whenever a main fuse failure is suspected.
CAUTION
After servicing the battery area, visually inspect the positive battery terminal cover and battery cap to ensure they are completely closed and securely latched.
If moisture enters the battery terminal area or fuse assembly due to an improperly secured cover, electrical damage, corrosion, and system malfunctions may occur within the Kia EV6 electrical system.
Fuse and relay information labels are located on the inside of the fuse/relay panel covers. These labels provide detailed information regarding fuse locations, circuit names, relay assignments, and amperage ratings used throughout the Kia EV6 electrical system.
Before replacing any fuse, always compare the fuse position and amperage rating with the information shown on the fuse-panel label. Installing the correct fuse helps maintain the safety, reliability, and proper operation of all Kia EV6 electrical systems.
