    • When the steering wheel heater operates at the 2nd level (strong), the system automatically lowers to the 1st level (weak) after approximately 30 minutes.

    • If the driver does not manually change the steering wheel heater settings, the system remains at the 1st level (weak) until the Kia EV6 is turned off.

  • To switch off the steering wheel heater, press and hold the steering wheel heater button until the indicator light turns off completely.

The heated steering wheel system of the Kia EV6 is especially useful during winter driving and cold weather conditions, providing improved comfort and a more premium cabin experience.

CAUTION

  • Do not install any type of steering wheel grip cover, as it may interfere with the proper operation of the Kia EV6 steering wheel heater system.

  • When cleaning the heated steering wheel, avoid using organic solvents such as paint thinner, benzene, alcohol, or gasoline. These substances may damage the steering wheel surface and heating elements.

  • If the steering wheel surface is struck or damaged by a sharp object, the steering wheel heater components or steering wheel grip sensor may malfunction.

WARNING

If the steering wheel becomes excessively warm, switch the heater system off immediately. Prolonged contact with heated surfaces may cause burns, even at relatively low temperatures.

NOTE

The steering wheel heater automatically turns off approximately 30 minutes after activation to help prevent overheating and reduce unnecessary battery usage.

Steering wheel grip sensor

While driving the Kia EV6 with Driver Assistance systems activated, the steering wheel grip sensor monitors whether the driver is holding the steering wheel and displays a Hands-off warning if no driver contact is detected.

This feature works together with advanced driving assistance technologies to help improve driver awareness and promote safer driving practices.

For additional details, refer to the Hands-off warning information related to Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), or Highway Driving Assist (HDA).

NOTE

The steering wheel grip sensor may not function properly if the following precautions are ignored.

  • Do not modify or replace the steering wheel cover with unauthorized accessories.

  • Do not attach additional accessories to the steering wheel rim.

  • Do not allow the steering wheel to come into contact with electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, or similar equipment.

  • Do not place metallic or conductive objects such as tumblers, beverage cans, or tools against the steering wheel.

  • Avoid exposing the steering wheel to excessive moisture, including wet wipes, spilled liquids, or steam cleaning.

When the driver wears thick gloves or uses steering wheel covers, steering wheel knobs, or other aftermarket accessories, the Kia EV6 steering wheel grip sensor may not correctly detect the driver’s hands even while the steering wheel is being held.

Steering wheel haptic warning

The Kia EV6 driver assistance system includes a steering wheel haptic warning feature that alerts the driver through steering wheel vibration whenever a potentially dangerous driving situation is detected.

This advanced warning method is designed to improve driver awareness by delivering physical feedback directly through the steering wheel, helping the driver react more quickly to surrounding traffic conditions and safety alerts.

When the vehicle is in the ON position, select Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Warning Methods > Haptic Warning on the infotainment system to activate or customize the feature.

The haptic warning system of the Kia EV6 works together with several advanced driver assistance technologies to provide a safer and more intuitive driving experience.
