    • Brake system modifications affect the vehicle's ability to perform automatic emergency braking.

    • Suspension modifications alter the vehicle's ride height or sensor calibration.

    • Steering-related modifications interfere with the operation of driver assistance technologies.

    • A spare tire, snow chains, or wheels with dimensions different from the original Kia EV6 specifications are installed.

  • There is a problem with the surroundings:

    • Complex road markings, painted patterns, or unusual surface textures are present.

    • Strong shadows, glare, reflections, or bright sunlight affect the camera's visibility.

    • Pedestrians or objects are positioned very close to the vehicle's projected path.

    • You are maneuvering through a narrow passage, confined area, or tight parking space.

    • The Kia EV6 is traveling on uneven terrain such as gravel roads, unpaved surfaces, steep slopes, speed bumps, or rough pavement.

    • A trailer, bicycle rack, cargo carrier, or other attachment is installed near the rear sensors.

    • The wide-view camera visibility is reduced by heavy rain, fog, snow, mist, or other adverse weather conditions.

    • The surrounding environment is extremely bright or extremely dark.

    • Ambient temperatures are unusually high or unusually low.

    • Strong winds exceeding approximately 12 mph (20 km/h) are present or are blowing directly across the rear bumper area.

    • Nearby vehicles, motorcycles, horns, air brakes, or industrial equipment are generating ultrasonic interference.

    • Objects producing ultrasonic frequencies are located close to the sensors.

    • Wireless communication equipment is operating near the rear ultrasonic sensors.

    • The Kia EV6 is affected by another vehicle's parking assistance system or ultrasonic sensor emissions.

    • Excessive environmental noise interferes with ultrasonic signal detection.

    • Electrical devices generating electromagnetic interference are operating nearby.

    • The road surface is slippery because of water, snow, ice, or loose gravel.

    • The vehicle is parked or reversing on a steep incline or decline where object detection accuracy may be reduced.

  • There is a problem with pedestrians or objects:

    • The pedestrian is difficult for the camera or sensors to recognize.

    • A significant height difference exists between the Kia EV6 and the pedestrian.

    • The pedestrian blends into the background, making visual recognition difficult.

    • The pedestrian is positioned near the outer edge of the camera's field of view.

    • The pedestrian is crouching, bending over, sitting, or otherwise not standing upright.

    • The pedestrian is unusually short or unusually tall, affecting detection accuracy.

    • The pedestrian's clothing closely matches the surrounding environment and reduces visibility.

    • The pedestrian's clothing absorbs ultrasonic waves and limits sensor detection capability.

    • The object has a shape, size, height, thickness, or material that reflects ultrasonic waves poorly, such as poles, shrubs, curbs, carts, fences, or wall edges.

    • The pedestrian or object is moving unpredictably.

    • The pedestrian or obstacle is extremely close to the rear bumper of the Kia EV6.

    • The object is partially hidden, obstructed, or only partially visible to the camera and sensors.

    • Small children, pets, narrow objects, or low obstacles may be more difficult for the system to identify in certain situations.

WARNING

Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist in the Kia EV6 is a supplemental driver assistance feature and should never replace safe driving practices. The driver remains fully responsible for checking mirrors, observing the rear camera display, monitoring blind spots, and ensuring that the area behind the vehicle is clear before and during reversing maneuvers.

A large structure, such as a wall, fence, or building surface, is positioned directly behind the pedestrian or object, making detection more difficult for the Kia EV6 sensors and camera system.

  • The detected object is not located near the centerline of the rear section of your Kia EV6.

  • The object is positioned at an angle and is not parallel to the rear bumper.

  • The visible surface of the object is not aligned parallel with the rear bumper, reducing recognition accuracy.

  • There is a problem with the driving conditions:

    • The driver shifts into R (Reverse) or D (Drive) and immediately begins moving the Kia EV6 without allowing the system sufficient time to initialize.

    • The driver accelerates aggressively or performs rapid steering maneuvers while reversing.

    • The vehicle is driven immediately after startup before all driver assistance systems have fully completed their operating checks.

  • WARNING

    • Always drive with extreme care and maintain full control of the vehicle. The driver remains solely responsible for braking, steering, and ensuring safe vehicle operation at all times.

    • Before moving the Kia EV6, carefully inspect the area around the vehicle and confirm that no pedestrians, animals, vehicles, or obstacles are present.

    • The effectiveness of Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist can vary depending on environmental conditions, road surfaces, visibility, and obstacle characteristics. When vehicle speed exceeds 2 mph (4 km/h), the system primarily reacts to detected pedestrians. Always remain alert while reversing.

    • Certain objects may not be recognized by the rear ultrasonic sensors because of their distance, shape, size, position, or material composition, which may limit sensor performance.

    • Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist may activate unexpectedly or may fail to activate depending on surrounding conditions and sensor input.

    • Never rely exclusively on Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist in your Kia EV6. Failure to properly monitor vehicle surroundings could result in injury, property damage, or a collision.

    • Always keep the wide-angle cameras and ultrasonic sensors clean and unobstructed to maintain optimal system performance.

    • Do not use acidic cleaners, alkaline chemicals, abrasive compounds, or harsh detergents on the camera lenses. Use only mild soap or a neutral cleaning solution and rinse thoroughly with clean water.

    • Avoid directing high-pressure water jets at the wide-angle cameras, rear ultrasonic sensors, or surrounding areas. Excessive pressure may damage components or negatively affect sensor calibration.

    • Do not install bumper stickers, decorative covers, guards, protective films, or other accessories near the cameras or ultrasonic sensors. Repainting the bumper may also affect Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist performance.

    • Never disassemble, modify, strike, or intentionally impact the wide-angle cameras or ultrasonic sensor components.

    • Do not apply excessive force to the cameras or sensors. If a camera or sensor is moved out of alignment, the Kia EV6 Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not operate correctly. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer if alignment is suspected.

    • You may hear unusual braking sounds or mechanical noises when the system performs emergency braking to help avoid a collision.

    • If another warning sound is already active, such as a seat belt reminder or other vehicle alert, the Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist warning tone may be reduced or temporarily masked.

    • The system may not operate correctly if the rear bumper has been damaged, repaired improperly, replaced, or modified.

    • Strong electromagnetic interference from nearby equipment or devices may affect system operation.

    • High audio volume levels inside the Kia EV6 may prevent occupants from hearing important Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist warnings.

    • Automatic brake intervention may be limited depending on the operating status of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system.

In certain situations, only a warning notification may be provided, including when:

      • The ESC warning indicator is illuminated on the instrument cluster.

      • The ESC system is actively controlling another vehicle function.

    • Inspect brake fluid levels and brake pad condition regularly. Reduced brake performance may affect the effectiveness of collision-avoidance braking functions.

    • Disable Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist when towing a trailer. While reversing, the Kia EV6 may identify the trailer as an obstacle and trigger unnecessary warnings or braking interventions.

    NOTE

Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist in the Kia EV6 is capable of detecting pedestrians and objects under the following typical conditions:

    • A pedestrian is standing behind the vehicle within the detection area of the rear camera and ultrasonic sensors.

    • A large obstacle, such as another vehicle, wall, pillar, or similar object, is positioned directly behind the center of the Kia EV6.

Detection performance may vary depending on lighting conditions, weather, object characteristics, and vehicle speed. Drivers should always confirm the surrounding area visually before reversing.
