Kia EV6: Driver adjustments / Lighting

Contents:

The Kia EV6 is equipped with various advanced exterior and interior lighting systems designed to improve visibility, driving safety, convenience, and vehicle appearance.

These lighting systems include automatic headlights, LED lighting technology, Daytime Running Lights (DRL), ambient lighting functions, and intelligent lighting controls.

Battery saver function

The purpose of the Kia EV6 battery saver function is to help prevent unnecessary discharge of the 12V auxiliary battery when vehicle lights are accidentally left in the ON position.

The system automatically turns off the parking lights after the Kia EV6 is switched OFF and the driver’s door is opened.

However, the position lamps remain ON even after the driver’s door is opened if the light switch is operated after the Kia EV6 has been turned off.

If it is necessary to keep the lights turned on, switch the position lamps OFF and then ON again using the headlamp control switch located on the steering column after the Kia EV6 has been switched off.

The battery saver function helps reduce the possibility of a discharged auxiliary battery caused by unintentionally leaving vehicle lights activated.

Headlight escort function

If the EV button is switched to the OFF position while the Kia EV6 headlights remain ON, the headlights stay illuminated for approximately 5 minutes.

However, if the driver’s door is opened and then closed, the Kia EV6 headlights automatically turn off after approximately 15 seconds.

The headlights can also be turned off manually by pressing the smart key lock button once more or by moving the light switch to the OFF position.

The Kia EV6 headlight escort function improves convenience and visibility when walking near the vehicle in dark parking areas or nighttime environments.

Daytime running light (DRL)

The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) of the Kia EV6 help improve vehicle visibility to other drivers and pedestrians during daytime driving conditions.

The DRL system is especially beneficial during dawn, dusk, cloudy weather, or low-visibility daytime situations.

The Kia EV6 DRL system automatically turns the dedicated DRL lamps OFF under the following conditions:

  • The headlamps are switched ON.

  • The Kia EV6 is turned off.

  • The taillights are switched ON.

    • This also includes situations where the taillights automatically turn on in dark environments while the light switch is set to automatic mode.

  • The parking brake is engaged.

The Kia EV6 Daytime Running Light system contributes to increased road visibility and improved daytime driving safety.

Lighting control

The Kia EV6 lighting control switch includes both headlamp and parking lamp operating positions.

Kia EV6 lighting control lever and headlamp operation switch positions

To operate the exterior lights of the Kia EV6, rotate the control knob located at the end of the lighting control lever to one of the following positions:

  1. OFF position

  2. AUTO mode

  3. Position & Taillamp

  4. Headlamp (Low beam)

The Kia EV6 automatic lighting system can automatically control exterior lighting according to surrounding brightness conditions for improved convenience and driving safety.

Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Following distance

When towing a trailer with the Kia EV6, always maintain at least twice the normal following distance compared to driving without a trailer attached. The added trailer weight increases stopping distance and reduces braking responsiveness, especially during wet weather, downhill driving, or emergency braking situations. Maintaining additional space between the Kia EV6 and the vehicle ahead helps reduce the likelihood of sudden braking, abrupt steering corrections, or emergency maneuvers that could destabilize the trailer.

Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Precautions

To help ensure the highest level of occupant protection in the Kia EV6, all passengers should fully understand the proper use of the restraint systems, including seat belts, airbags, and child restraint systems. Correct seating posture and proper restraint usage significantly reduce the risk of injury during sudden stops or collisions. WARNING To reduce the risk of severe or fatal injuries and to receive the maximum safety benefit from the restraint systems installed in the Kia EV6: Never place an infant, child, or booster seat in the front passenger seat of the Kia EV6.
