CAUTION
When a genuine Kia Trailer Kit is installed and connected to the Kia EV6, Lane Following Assist automatically turns OFF.
In this situation, the Kia EV6 cannot provide Lane Following Assist steering support, so the driver must pay additional attention while towing.
A genuine Kia Trailer Kit allows the Kia EV6 to recognize when a trailer is connected.
Lane Following Assist
|
If the Kia EV6 detects both lane markings and/or a vehicle ahead while driving below approximately 120 mph (180
km/h), the green (
) indicator light will illuminate on the
instrument cluster.
When operating conditions are satisfied, the Kia EV6 Lane Following Assist system can help keep the vehicle centered within the lane by providing steering assistance.
The Kia EV6 front view camera continuously monitors lane markings and surrounding traffic conditions to support smooth and stable lane guidance.
This advanced Kia EV6 driver assistance technology can help reduce driver fatigue during extended highway driving.
CAUTION
If steering assistance is temporarily unavailable, the white (
) indicator light will
blink and then
change to gray.
This indicates that the Kia EV6 Lane Following Assist system is in standby mode or that operating conditions are not currently satisfied.
Hands-off warning
|
|
If the Kia EV6 detects that the driver has removed their hands from the steering wheel for several seconds, a warning message will appear and audible warning alerts will sound progressively in stages.
First stage: Warning message displayed on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster
Second stage: Warning message with a red steering wheel icon and an audible warning sound
|
|
If the driver continues driving without placing their hands back on the steering wheel, the Kia EV6 will display an additional warning message and automatically deactivate Lane Following Assist.
The Kia EV6 Hands-off Warning system is designed to remind drivers that active steering supervision is always required, even while driver assistance systems are operating.
WARNING
Kia EV6 steering assistance may not activate properly if the steering wheel is held too tightly or turned beyond a certain steering angle.
The Kia EV6 Lane Following Assist system does not operate continuously in all driving situations.
The driver is always responsible for safely steering the vehicle and maintaining proper lane position.
The Kia EV6 hands-off warning message may appear later than expected depending on road conditions, driving behavior, or steering input.
Always keep both hands on the steering wheel while driving.
If gloves are worn or the steering wheel is held too lightly, the Kia EV6 may not correctly detect driver hand contact and the hands-off warning may activate.
If accessories, covers, or objects are attached to the Kia EV6 steering wheel, hands-off detection and steering assistance performance may not operate correctly.
Do not rely entirely on Kia EV6 Lane Following Assist during severe weather, heavy traffic, sharp curves, or poor road conditions.
NOTE
For additional details regarding the Kia EV6 instrument cluster display and driving assist view, refer to the Driving Assist View section.
When both lane markings are properly detected, the lane lines displayed on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster change from gray to white.

The images, graphics, and colors displayed on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster may vary depending on display theme, software version, and vehicle specifications.
If lane markings are not clearly detected, Kia EV6 steering assistance through Lane Following Assist may become limited depending on surrounding traffic conditions and whether a vehicle is detected ahead.
The driver can manually steer the Kia EV6 at any time even while Lane Following Assist is providing steering assistance.
The steering wheel on the Kia EV6 may temporarily feel heavier or lighter than normal while steering assistance is active.
Environmental conditions such as rain, snow, fog, strong sunlight, or dirty camera areas may temporarily affect Kia EV6 Lane Following Assist performance.
