Warning and control

The Kia EV6 Intelligent Speed Limit Assist system provides the following warnings and control functions:

  • Displaying the speed limit

  • Speeding warning

  • Changing the set speed

  • Auto set speed change: (if equipped)

Displaying the speed limit

Kia EV6 speed limit information displayed on instrument cluster

The Kia EV6 instrument cluster displays available speed limit information detected from road signs and supported navigation data.

NOTE

  • If the road speed limit cannot be recognized, the “---” symbol will be displayed. Refer to Intelligent Speed Limit Assist malfunction and limitations if road signs are difficult for the Kia EV6 to detect.

  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist may provide additional road sign information in addition to the speed limit. The type of additional information shown may vary depending on the country or regional vehicle specification.

  • The displayed Kia EV6 images, colors, symbols, and cluster graphics may vary depending on instrument cluster specifications, display theme, software version, or market configuration.

Speeding warning

If the Kia EV6 exceeds the displayed speed limit, the speed limit sign shown on the instrument cluster turns red to alert the driver.

This warning helps the driver recognize excessive speed quickly and adjust vehicle speed before continuing.

Changing the set speed

If the road speed limit changes while Manual Speed Limit Assist or Smart Cruise Control is operating, the Kia EV6 may display an upward or downward arrow to inform the driver that the set speed should be adjusted.

At that time, the driver can change the set speed according to the detected speed limit by using the (+) or (–) switch on the steering wheel.

This function helps the Kia EV6 driver adapt more smoothly to changing speed zones without needing to search for road signs manually.

Auto set speed change

When Manual Speed Limit Assist or Smart Cruise Control is operating and the driver’s set speed matches the current road speed limit, the Kia EV6 can automatically adjust the set speed when the recognized road speed limit changes afterward.

The auto set speed change function operates on roads where the detected speed limit is above 45 mph (70 km/h). When this function is active, the set speed on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster is displayed in green.

This feature can support smoother speed management on highways and major roads where posted speed limits change along the route.

WARNING

  • Even after the set speed is changed according to the recognized road speed limit, the Kia EV6 can still be driven over the speed limit. If necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce driving speed manually.

  • If the detected road speed limit is below 20 mph (30 km/h), the set speed change and auto set speed change functions will not operate.

  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist operates using the speed unit selected in the Kia EV6 instrument cluster. If the speed unit is set differently from the unit used in your country, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist may not operate correctly, except in Australia or Russia.

  • The driver remains responsible for obeying actual road signs, local traffic laws, temporary speed restrictions, and real driving conditions at all times.

NOTE

  • For more information about Kia EV6 Manual Speed Limit Assist operation, refer to Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA).

  • For more information about Kia EV6 Smart Cruise Control operation, refer to Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

  • Navigation data, road sign visibility, weather, temporary roadworks, and regional traffic rules may affect how Intelligent Speed Limit Assist provides speed limit information.
