If Highway Driving Assist in the Kia EV6 is not operating correctly, a warning message appears on the instrument
cluster and the Master warning light
(
)
illuminates on the display.
If this occurs, have the Kia EV6 Highway Driving Assist system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer or qualified service center as soon as possible.
WARNING
The driver is always responsible for controlling the Kia EV6 and maintaining safe driving at all times.
Always keep your hands on the steering wheel while driving, even when Highway Driving Assist is active.
Highway Driving Assist is a supplemental driver assistance feature designed to support the driver and is not a fully autonomous driving system. Always monitor road conditions and take immediate action when necessary to operate the Kia EV6 safely.
Always keep your eyes on the road. The driver is responsible for complying with all traffic laws and driving regulations. The vehicle manufacturer is not responsible for traffic violations, unsafe driving behavior, or accidents caused by the driver.
Highway Driving Assist may not recognize every traffic situation or road hazard. Because of system limitations, the Kia EV6 may not detect certain collision risks. Vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, guardrails, tollgate structures, road barriers, or unexpected objects may not always be detected correctly.
Highway Driving Assist automatically turns OFF in the following situations:
When driving on roads where Highway Driving Assist cannot operate properly, such as rest areas, intersections, junctions, service roads, or unsupported highway sections.
When the navigation system is not functioning normally, including during updates, restarts, route recalculations, or temporary navigation malfunctions.
Depending on road conditions, surrounding traffic, navigation information, lane markings, weather, or GPS accuracy, Highway Driving Assist in the Kia EV6 may operate unexpectedly or may automatically turn OFF.
Lane Following Assist may be temporarily disabled if the front view camera cannot properly recognize lane markings or if a hands-off steering wheel warning appears.
You may not hear Highway Driving Assist warning sounds clearly if the surrounding environment is noisy or if loud audio is playing inside the Kia EV6.
If the Kia EV6 is driven at high speed through sharp curves, the vehicle may move toward one side of the lane or drift closer to lane boundaries.
If you are towing a trailer, carrier, or another vehicle, turn OFF Highway Driving Assist for safety reasons.
The hands-off warning message may appear earlier or later depending on steering wheel grip, steering input, driving style, and road conditions. Always keep your hands on the steering wheel while driving.
For safe and proper operation of the Kia EV6 driver assistance systems, carefully read the owner’s manual before using Highway Driving Assist.
Highway Driving Assist may not operate immediately after starting the Kia EV6 or after initializing the navigation system or detection sensors.
NOTE
You can check the current Highway Driving Assist status through the service message area in the utility information view of the Kia EV6 instrument cluster display.
Highway Driving Assist and Highway Lane Change Assist in the Kia EV6 may operate abnormally, provide delayed assistance, or behave unexpectedly under the following conditions:
The navigation map information differs from the actual road because the navigation system is outdated.
The displayed map information differs from the real road layout because of real-time GPS inaccuracies or map database errors.
The infotainment system is overloaded by simultaneously performing multiple functions such as route searching, voice recognition, media playback, or connected smartphone operations.
GPS signals are blocked or weakened while driving through tunnels, underground roads, dense urban areas, or locations with large surrounding structures.
The driver leaves the planned route, changes the destination, resets the navigation route, or cancels the destination route, including route changes caused by real-time traffic information.
The Kia EV6 enters a service area, rest area, tollgate section, or unsupported road segment.
Android Auto or Apple CarPlay is operating and may affect some navigation-related functions.
The navigation system cannot accurately determine the Kia EV6 position, for example on elevated roads, overpasses, parallel roads, or nearby roads running side-by-side.
The vehicle fails to recognize white dashed lane markings, lane boundaries, or road edge markings correctly.
Some lanes are temporarily restricted because of road construction, accidents, traffic control, or temporary lane closures.
The center of the road does not contain a physical separation structure such as a center median, barrier, or guardrail.
The lane intended for lane changing is a bus lane, reversible lane, restricted lane, or variable traffic lane.
A trailer, bicycle carrier, cargo platform, or other equipment is attached to the Kia EV6.
Because road conditions and traffic environments constantly change, the driver should always monitor surrounding vehicles, lane markings, navigation guidance, and the behavior of the Kia EV6 while Highway Driving Assist is active.
NOTE
For additional information about the front view camera, front radar, front corner radar, and rear corner radar sensors used by Kia EV6 driver assistance systems, refer to Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA) (Sensor Fusion).
