Fuses are critical safety components designed to protect the electrical systems of the Kia EV6 from overloads, short circuits, and potential electrical damage. By interrupting the flow of electricity when excessive current is detected, fuses help prevent damage to wiring, electronic modules, lighting systems, and other vehicle components.

Left side: Normal fuse condition. Right side: Blown fuse condition.
The Kia EV6 is equipped with two or, depending on vehicle specification, three fuse panels. One fuse panel is located behind the driver's side interior trim panel, while another is positioned within the motor compartment near the battery and primary electrical distribution components.
If any lights, electrical accessories, infotainment functions, charging-related equipment, or vehicle controls stop operating, inspect the appropriate fuse first. A blown fuse can usually be identified by a melted or broken internal fuse element.
If an electrical component fails to operate, begin troubleshooting by checking the interior fuse panel of the Kia EV6 before proceeding to the motor compartment fuse panel.
If a replacement fuse immediately blows after installation, this typically indicates an underlying electrical fault. In such cases, discontinue use of the affected system and have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
The Kia EV6 utilizes three primary fuse designs: blade-type fuses for lower-current circuits, cartridge-type fuses for medium- and high-current applications, and multi-fuses for major electrical loads.
WARNING
Fuse Replacement
Never replace a blown fuse with a fuse that has a different amperage rating than the original specification.
Installing a higher-capacity fuse may allow excessive current to flow through the electrical system, potentially causing component damage, wiring failure, or vehicle fire.
Never substitute wire, aluminum foil, metal strips, or any improvised material in place of a proper fuse, even as a temporary measure. Such practices can cause severe electrical damage and significantly increase the risk of fire.
Do not modify, alter, bypass, or add electrical wiring that is not approved for the Kia EV6 electrical system.
CAUTION
Do not use screwdrivers, pliers, or other metal objects to remove fuses. Metal tools may cause short circuits, damage fuse terminals, or harm sensitive electronic components.
NOTE
Before replacing any fuse in the Kia EV6, switch the EV button to the OFF position, turn off all electrical accessories, and disconnect the negative battery terminal if required.
The actual fuse and relay configuration may vary depending on vehicle equipment, trim level, market specifications, and optional features.
WARNING
Electrical Fire Hazard
Always ensure that replacement fuses and relays are fully seated and securely installed. Loose electrical connections can generate heat, create resistance, and potentially lead to a vehicle fire.
Do not remove fuses, relays, or terminals secured with bolts or nuts. These components require specific installation procedures and torque values. If a bolted fuse or relay fails, consult an authorized Kia dealer for diagnosis and replacement.
CAUTION
Whenever replacing a fuse or relay, verify that the replacement component fits tightly within its retaining clips. A loose connection may damage the electrical system and cause intermittent malfunctions.
CAUTION
Do not insert objects other than approved fuses or relays into fuse-panel terminals. Improper contact may cause electrical failures and unpredictable system behavior.
Never connect aftermarket wiring, test leads, or screwdrivers into fuse sockets designed exclusively for original Kia EV6 fuses and relays.
Unauthorized electrical modifications may damage wiring harnesses, electronic control units, and interior electrical systems.
Directly connecting trailer wiring or installing bulbs with higher-than-specified power ratings may overload circuits and permanently damage the interior junction block.
WARNING
Electrical Wiring Repairs
All electrical repairs on the Kia EV6 should be performed by trained technicians using genuine Kia replacement parts. Unauthorized repairs or aftermarket electrical modifications may damage vehicle systems and increase the risk of electrical fires.
Special caution should be exercised when installing multimedia systems, alarm systems, communication devices, additional lighting equipment, or other aftermarket electrical accessories.
NOTE
Rewiring Prohibited
Do not rewire, modify, or alter the original electrical architecture of the Kia EV6. Unauthorized modifications may interfere with safety systems, charging systems, driver-assistance technologies, warranty coverage, and overall vehicle reliability.
Press the EV button and place the vehicle in the OFF position. Ensure all electrical accessories and vehicle systems are switched off before beginning fuse replacement.
Remove the interior fuse-panel cover.
|
If the switch remains in the OFF position, a caution indicator may appear in the instrument cluster.
To locate a specific fuse, refer to the diagram on the inside of the fuse-panel cover and the fuse identification chart provided in this section.
Carefully remove the suspected fuse by pulling it straight outward. Use the dedicated fuse-removal tool supplied on the motor-compartment fuse-panel cover.
|
Inspect the fuse carefully. If the internal element is melted or broken, replace the fuse with a new one of identical rating.
Spare fuses for the Kia EV6 are stored within the motor-compartment fuse panel for convenience.
Install the replacement fuse firmly into the correct position and ensure it is fully seated within the retaining clips.
If the replacement fuse does not fit securely, consult an authorized Kia dealer for assistance.
If no spare fuse is available, you may temporarily use another fuse of identical amperage rating from a non-essential circuit, such as the power outlet circuit, provided doing so does not affect safe vehicle operation.
If the headlamps, turn signals, brake lamps, daytime running lamps (DRL), tail lamps, or High-Mounted Stop Lamp (HMSL) fail to operate and all interior fuses appear normal, inspect the motor-compartment fuse panel. Any blown fuse must be replaced with a fuse of the same rating.
NOTE
If a headlamp, turn signal lamp, tail lamp, or other exterior lighting component malfunctions despite the fuses being intact, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. Additional diagnostics may be required to identify wiring, module, or component-related issues.
Press the EV button and place the Kia EV6 in the OFF position. Make sure all electrical systems, accessories, and electronic devices are switched off before beginning any fuse inspection or replacement procedure.
Open the motor compartment fuse panel by pressing the retaining tab and carefully lifting the cover upward.
|
After removing the cover, locate the fuse corresponding to the affected electrical circuit by referencing the fuse panel diagram and fuse identification chart provided for the Kia EV6.
Inspect the suspected fuse carefully. If the fuse element is broken or melted, replace it with a new fuse of the exact same amperage rating. Use the fuse puller supplied inside the motor compartment fuse panel to safely remove and install fuses.
Insert the replacement fuse firmly into the correct position and verify that it is fully seated within the retaining clips. If the replacement fuse does not fit securely, contact an authorized Kia dealer for inspection and service.
CAUTION
Always reinstall the motor compartment fuse panel cover securely after servicing. Proper sealing protects the electrical components of the Kia EV6 from water, moisture, dirt, and debris. After closing the cover, verify that an audible click is heard, confirming that the cover is fully locked into position.
Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: V2L has ended. Battery level has reached the set value
V2L has ended. Battery level has reached the set value When the Kia EV6 high-voltage battery charge reaches the configured discharge limit, the V2L function automatically stops operating and a warning message appears on the instrument cluster. To continue using V2L, set the discharge limit lower than the current battery charge level.
