ESC ON conditionWhen the EV button is switched to the POWER ON position, both the ESC and ESC OFF indicator lights illuminate for approximately 3 seconds before the Kia EV6 ESC system activates automatically.
To deactivate the ESC system, press the ESC OFF button for at least half a second after switching the Kia EV6 into the POWER ON mode. The ESC OFF indicator light will appear. To reactivate ESC, press the ESC OFF button again and the warning light will turn off.
During startup, a slight ticking noise may be heard. This sound indicates that the Electronic Stability Control system is performing an automatic self-diagnostic test.
When the ESC system is actively intervening,
the
ESC indicator light blinks on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster.
During ESC operation, the driver may feel slight pulsation or braking intervention within the vehicle. This is a normal response caused by individual wheel brake control and does not indicate any issue.
When attempting to drive out of mud, snow, or slippery terrain, pressing the accelerator pedal may not immediately increase vehicle speed because the Kia EV6 ESC system is actively limiting wheel spin to improve traction.
Electronic stability control (ESC) operation off
The Kia EV6 offers two separate ESC OFF operating modes.
If the vehicle is turned off while ESC remains disabled, the system will stay off temporarily. However, once the Kia EV6 is restarted, the ESC system automatically reactivates for safety.
ESC off state 1 - Traction control disabledTo disable only the traction control portion of the ESC system while maintaining brake-based stability
assistance,
press the ESC OFF button (ESC OFF
) for less than 3 seconds. The ESC OFF
indicator
light (ESC OFF
) will illuminate.
When GT Mode is selected in the Kia EV6, the system automatically switches to ESC OFF State 1 and the ESC
OFF indicator light (ESC OFF
) appears automatically.
To completely disable both traction control and brake-based stability intervention, press and hold the ESC
OFF button (ESC OFF
) for more than 3 seconds.
The ESC OFF indicator light (ESC OFF
) will illuminate and an audible
warning chime will sound. In this mode, the Kia EV6 stability control system no longer provides corrective
intervention.

When the EV button is switched into the POWER ON position, the ESC indicator lights illuminate briefly and then turn off if the Kia EV6 ESC system is operating correctly.
The ESC indicator light flashes whenever the system is actively stabilizing the vehicle or remains illuminated if a malfunction is detected.
The ESC OFF indicator light illuminates whenever the ESC system has been manually disabled using the control button.
WARNING
Electronic Stability Control
Drive carefully even when your Kia EV6 is equipped with ESC. The system can only assist the driver under specific conditions and cannot overcome the laws of physics or dangerous driving behavior.
ESC OFF usage
When drivingFor normal daily driving, the ESC system in the Kia EV6 should remain activated whenever possible.
If ESC must be disabled while driving, press the ESC OFF button only while traveling on a flat and stable road surface.
WARNING
Operating ESC
Never press the ESC OFF button while the ESC system is actively operating and the ESC indicator light is blinking.
If ESC is switched off while actively stabilizing the Kia EV6, the vehicle could suddenly lose traction and become uncontrollable.
NOTE
When operating the Kia EV6 on a dynamometer or testing equipment, ensure that the ESC system is turned off (ESC OFF indicator illuminated). If ESC remains active, it may prevent proper wheel speed operation and lead to inaccurate diagnostic results.
Disabling the ESC system does not affect normal ABS functionality or standard braking system operation in the Kia EV6.
The Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system in the Kia EV6 provides additional enhancements to steering response and overall vehicle stability, especially when driving on slippery roads or when the system detects differences in traction between the left and right wheels during braking.
The advanced VSM technology in the Kia EV6 works together with the Electronic Stability Control system and Motor Driven Power Steering to help the driver maintain better directional control under difficult road conditions such as rain, snow, ice, or uneven pavement surfaces.
WARNING
Tire/Wheel Size
When replacing tires or wheels on the Kia EV6, always install components that match the original factory specifications. Using different tire sizes, wheel diameters, or incompatible wheel combinations may reduce the effectiveness of the Vehicle Stability Management system and negatively affect driving safety.
Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Light bulbs
The Kia EV6 is equipped with lighting units positioned throughout the vehicle to illuminate the road, enhance interior visibility, and improve communication with surrounding traffic. These lighting systems contribute significantly to driving safety, visibility, and overall vehicle functionality. Bulb replacement precautions It is recommended that Kia EV6 owners keep spare replacement bulbs with the correct wattage specifications available for emergency situations.Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Linking and unlinking profile
