There are three primary categories of child restraint systems designed for use in the Kia EV6: rear-facing child seats, forward-facing child restraints, and booster seats. Each type is specifically engineered according to a child’s age, height, weight, and developmental stage to provide the highest level of passenger protection during travel.
Rear-facing child seats
|
A rear-facing child seat protects infants and small children by supporting the entire back, neck, and head area during travel in the Kia EV6. The shell of the seat absorbs and distributes crash forces while the harness system securely keeps the child properly positioned. In the event of a collision, this design significantly reduces stress on the neck and spinal cord.
All children under one year of age should always ride in a rear-facing infant CRS when traveling in the Kia EV6.
Many modern convertible and 3-in-1 child seats feature higher height and weight capacities for rear-facing use, allowing parents to keep children in the safer rear-facing position for a longer period of time.
Continue using a rear-facing child restraint for as long as your child remains within the height and weight limits established by the child seat manufacturer. This is considered one of the safest travel methods for young passengers inside the Kia EV6. Once your child exceeds the rear-facing limits, transition to a forward-facing CRS equipped with a secure harness system.
Forward-facing child restraints
|
A forward-facing child restraint secures the child using an integrated harness system designed to protect the upper body during sudden stops or collisions. Children traveling in the Kia EV6 should remain in a forward-facing seat with a harness until they reach the maximum height or weight limit specified by the CRS manufacturer.
Once your child no longer fits within the limits of the forward-facing child restraint, it is time to transition to a properly sized booster seat for continued safe travel in the Kia EV6.
Booster seatsA booster seat is designed to improve the fit and positioning of the Kia EV6 seat belt system for older children. The booster elevates the child so that the lap and shoulder belts align correctly with the body.
Children should continue using a booster seat until they are large enough for the standard seat belt system in the Kia EV6 to fit properly without additional support. The lap belt should rest snugly across the upper thighs rather than the stomach area, while the shoulder belt should cross the chest and shoulder comfortably without touching the neck or face. For maximum safety, children under age 13 should always ride in the rear seats and remain properly restrained during every trip.
After selecting the correct child seat for your child, carefully verify that the CRS fits properly within the seating area of the Kia EV6 before installation.
Always follow the installation instructions supplied by the child restraint manufacturer. The following general safety steps should also be observed when installing a child seat in the Kia EV6:
Properly secure the child restraint to the vehicle. Every child restraint system must be firmly attached to the Kia EV6 using either the lap portion of the lap/shoulder belt or the integrated LATCH anchoring system.
Make sure the child restraint is firmly secured. After installation, push and pull the CRS forward and side-to-side to confirm it is securely attached. A properly installed child restraint should move only minimally when tested.
Secure the child in the child restraint. Always ensure the child is properly fastened into the CRS according to the manufacturer’s instructions before operating the Kia EV6.
