Infants and younger children must always be secured in an appropriate rear-facing or forward-facing CRS that has first been properly installed in the rear seat of the Kia EV6. Carefully read and follow all installation instructions and usage guidelines supplied by the manufacturer of the child restraint system to ensure proper protection.
WARNING
Child Restraint System (CRS) Installation
An improperly installed child restraint system may greatly increase the risk of severe injury or death during a collision. When using a CRS in the Kia EV6, always observe the following important precautions:
Always follow the installation procedures and operating instructions provided by the child restraint system manufacturer.
Always ensure that your child is correctly secured inside the child restraint system before driving.
If the vehicle head restraint interferes with proper CRS installation, adjust or remove the head restraint according to the instructions in both the Kia EV6 owner’s manual and the CRS manual.
Do not use infant carriers or child safety seats that hook over the seatback, as these systems may not provide sufficient protection during an accident.
NOTE
After any accident involving your Kia EV6, have an authorized Kia dealer inspect the child restraint system, seat belts, tether anchors, and lower anchor points to verify that all safety components remain in proper working condition.
When choosing a child restraint system for use in the Kia EV6, always consider the following recommendations:
Ensure the CRS includes a certification label confirming compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS 213).
Select a CRS appropriate for your child’s height, weight, and age. This information is usually listed on the product label or within the manufacturer’s instructions.
Choose a child restraint system that properly fits the intended seating position in the Kia EV6.
Carefully read and follow all warnings, installation instructions, and operating recommendations supplied with the child restraint system.
WARNING
Holding Children
Never hold a child in your arms or lap while riding in the Kia EV6. During a collision, the forces generated can instantly pull the child away from your grasp and throw them against the vehicle interior. Always secure children using an appropriate CRS designed for their size and weight.
WARNING
Unattended Children
Never leave children unattended inside the Kia EV6. Vehicle cabin temperatures can rise rapidly, especially during warm weather, potentially leading to serious injuries or life-threatening situations.
WARNING
Seat Belt Use
Never attempt to use one seat belt for two occupants simultaneously. Doing so eliminates the intended safety protection provided by the seat belt system and can lead to severe injuries during a crash.
