Kia EV6: Seating and safety restraints / Child Restraint System (CRS)

Contents:

Infants and young children traveling in the Kia EV6 must always be secured in a properly installed rear-facing or forward-facing Child Restraint System (CRS). The CRS must first be correctly attached to the rear seat of the Kia EV6 before use to ensure maximum passenger safety and compliance with modern child protection standards.

Children always in the rear

Children under the age of 13 should always ride in the rear seats of the Kia EV6 and must remain properly restrained at all times. Keeping children in the rear seating area significantly reduces the risk of injury during accidents, emergency braking situations, or sudden vehicle maneuvers. The advanced safety systems in the Kia EV6 are designed to provide enhanced occupant protection, but correct child seating remains essential.

WARNING

Restraint Location

Never install an infant seat or child restraint system in the front passenger seat of the Kia EV6. During a collision, the front passenger airbag can deploy with substantial force and may cause severe injury or death to a child seated in the front position.

WARNING

Hot Child Restraint System (CRS)

A child restraint system left inside a closed Kia EV6 on a hot sunny day can become extremely hot. Before placing a child into the CRS, always check the seat surface, buckles, straps, and latches to help prevent burns or discomfort.

Accident statistics consistently show that children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seats rather than the front passenger seat. Even in vehicles equipped with advanced airbag systems like the Kia EV6, children may still suffer serious injuries if seated improperly. Children who have outgrown a CRS should continue using the vehicle’s seat belts correctly while remaining seated in the rear.

All U.S. states require approved child restraint devices for younger passengers. Laws regarding age, height, and weight limits for transitioning from child restraint systems to standard seat belts vary by state. Kia EV6 owners should always familiarize themselves with the regulations applicable in the areas where they travel.

Every child restraint system used in the Kia EV6 must be correctly positioned and securely installed in the rear seating area. Always use a commercially available CRS that complies with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

Most child restraint systems are designed to be secured using either the lap portion of the lap/shoulder seat belt or the LATCH anchoring system provided in the rear seats of the Kia EV6.
