The Kia EV6 is equipped with an advanced braking system engineered to provide reliable stopping performance, improved stability, and enhanced driver confidence in a wide range of driving conditions. Multiple integrated braking functions work together to help slow the vehicle efficiently and keep it securely stationary when required.
Your Kia EV6 features power-assisted brakes that automatically adapt during regular driving conditions to maintain smooth and responsive brake pedal operation.
In the event of an electrical or vehicle power failure, brake assist functionality will no longer operate normally. Although the vehicle can still be stopped safely, significantly greater pedal effort and longer pedal travel will be required compared to normal operating conditions. Under these circumstances, the stopping distance of the Kia EV6 may increase noticeably.
On slippery roads or low-traction surfaces, apply the brake pedal only when necessary in order to maintain maximum steering control and vehicle stability.
NOTE
When pressing the brake pedal under certain driving or weather conditions, your Kia EV6 may produce squealing sounds or other brake-related noises. These sounds are considered normal operating characteristics and do not indicate a malfunction of the braking system.
When driving on roads treated with deicing chemicals or winter road salt, brake noise or unusual tire wear may occur due to chemical residue buildup on brake components. Under safe traffic conditions, lightly apply the brakes periodically to help remove deicing materials from the brake discs and pads.
CAUTION
Brake Pedal
Do not drive the Kia EV6 with your foot continuously resting on the brake pedal. Constant brake contact can generate excessive brake temperatures, resulting in premature wear of brake pads, brake linings, and other braking components.
WARNING
Steep Hill Braking
When descending long or steep hills, avoid continuous brake application whenever possible. Instead, increase the regenerative braking level in the Kia EV6 to assist with vehicle deceleration. Continuous brake use may overheat the braking system and temporarily reduce braking effectiveness.
Wet brake components may reduce the Kia EV6 braking performance and can occasionally cause the vehicle to pull slightly to one side during braking. After driving through deep water, lightly apply the brakes to determine whether braking performance has been affected. To help dry the brake components, continue applying the brakes gently while maintaining a safe speed until normal braking response returns.
NOTE
Do not continuously depress the brake pedal when the indicator (
) ON warning is not
illuminated. Excessive brake pedal operation under these conditions may discharge the vehicle battery.
Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: 1) Programming Preparation
When programming a garage door opener with the Kia EV6 HomeLink® system, it is strongly recommended to park the vehicle outside the garage for improved signal reception and additional safety. Install a fresh battery in the handheld transmitter of the device being programmed to HomeLink. A new battery helps ensure faster synchronization, stronger radio-frequency transmission, and more accurate programming performance.Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Blind-spot View Monitor (BVM): (if equipped)
