WARNING
Loose objects
Loose objects in the driver's foot area may interfere with proper operation of the brake or accelerator pedal, which could lead to an accident. Do not place bags, bottles, tools, floor mats, or any unsecured items under the front seats or near the pedals of the Kia Seltos.
WARNING
Uprighting a seat
Do not press the release lever on a manual seatback unless you are holding and controlling the seatback. The seatback may spring upright suddenly and could strike you or another passenger.
WARNING
Driver responsibility for passengers
The driver should remind all passengers to keep their seatbacks upright whenever the vehicle is moving. If a seatback is reclined during a collision, the restraint system may not hold the passenger correctly, greatly increasing the risk of serious injury.
WARNING
Seat cushion
Occupants should never sit on aftermarket seat cushions or extra sitting cushions. These items may prevent the passenger Occupant Detection System (ODS) from operating correctly, and they may also allow the passenger's hips to slide under the lap portion of the seat belt during a crash or sudden stop.
WARNING
Driver's seat
-
Never attempt to adjust the driver's seat while the Kia Seltos is moving. Sudden seat movement could cause loss of control.
-
Do not allow any object to interfere with the normal position of the seatback. Storing items against the seatback may prevent it from locking or supporting the occupant correctly, which could result in serious or fatal injury during a sudden stop or collision.
-
Sit as far back as possible from the steering wheel while still maintaining comfortable control of the Kia Seltos. A distance of at least 10 in (25 cm) between your chest and the steering wheel is recommended to reduce the risk of injury from air bag inflation.
WARNING
Rear seatbacks
Always make sure the rear seatbacks are locked securely before driving. If they are not locked, passengers or cargo may be thrown forward during hard braking or a collision, causing injury.
WARNING
Unexpected seat movement
After adjusting a manual seat, always confirm that it is locked in place by shifting your weight forward and backward. Sudden or unexpected movement of the driver's seat could cause the driver to lose control of the Kia Seltos.
WARNING
Seat adjustment
-
Do not adjust the seat while wearing the seat belt tightly. Moving the seat forward can apply strong pressure to the abdomen and may increase the risk of injury.
-
Do not place your hand near the seat bottom, rails, or seat track while adjusting the seat. Your hand or fingers could become caught in the seat mechanism.
WARNING
Luggage and cargo
Do not stack luggage or cargo higher than the seatback in the cargo area. During a collision or sudden stop, unsecured cargo can move forward and injure passengers. Large, heavy, or stacked items must be secured properly in the cargo area of the Kia Seltos.
WARNING
Cargo area
Never allow passengers to ride in the cargo area under any circumstances. The cargo area is designed only for transporting luggage or cargo, not people.
WARNING
Small objects
Use extreme caution when picking up small objects trapped under the seats or between the seat and the center console. Sharp edges or moving parts in the seat mechanism may cut or injure your hands.
Before driving the Kia Seltos, confirm that all occupants are seated correctly, seatbacks are locked, headrests are adjusted, and cargo is secured. Proper seating position is an important part of the vehicle's overall safety system.
Feature of Seat Leather
-
The seats in the Kia Seltos may be upholstered with a combination of artificial leather and genuine leather, depending on the trim and equipment. Genuine leather is produced from the outer skin of an animal and is specially processed for automotive use. Because it is a natural material, each section may vary slightly in thickness, grain, texture, or density. Wrinkles may also appear depending on temperature, humidity, and normal use.
-
The seat covering is made with a stretchable material to help improve comfort for the driver and passengers during everyday Kia Seltos driving.
-
The seats are shaped with curved surfaces and raised side-support areas to provide better body support, driving comfort, and stability, especially during cornering or longer trips.
CAUTION
-
Belts with metal accessories, exposed zippers, keys in a rear pocket, or other hard objects may scratch, press, or damage the seat fabric or leather surface.
-
Avoid soaking or heavily wetting the seat. Moisture may change the natural characteristics, appearance, or feel of the leather used in the Kia Seltos seats.
-
Jeans or clothing that can bleed color may stain or contaminate the surface of the seat covering material, especially on lighter upholstery.
NOTICE
Wrinkles, light creases, or minor abrasions may appear naturally through regular use. This is a normal characteristic of seat materials and is not considered a defect. Such wrinkles or abrasions are not covered by warranty.
Front seat adjustment for manual seat
The front seat in the Kia Seltos can be adjusted using the control levers located on the outside of the seat cushion. Adjust the seat before driving so your posture is comfortable and all main controls can be reached safely.
Front seat adjustment for power seat
The front driver's seat can be adjusted using the power control switches located on the outside of the seat cushion. These switches allow the driver to set a more suitable seating position with less effort.
Before driving the Kia Seltos, adjust the seat to the proper position so you can comfortably control the steering wheel, pedals, and switches on the instrument panel while maintaining a safe distance from the air bag.
CAUTION
Power seating adjustments
-
The power seat controls operate by an electric motor. Repeated or unnecessary operation may overload or damage electrical equipment.
-
Do not operate two or more power seat control switches at the same time. Doing so may damage the power seat motor or related electrical components.
Headrest for front seat
The driver's and front passenger's seats in the Kia Seltos are equipped with headrests for safety and comfort.
The headrest not only improves comfort for the driver and front passenger, but also helps support and protect the head and neck in the event of a rear collision.
For maximum effectiveness during an accident, the headrest should be adjusted so the middle of the headrest is at approximately the same height as the center of gravity of the occupant's head. For most people, this point is near the top of the eyes.
Adjust the headrest as close to your head as practical. Using a cushion that pushes the body away from the seatback is not recommended, because it can reduce the protective effect of the headrest.
WARNING
Headrest removal/adjustment
-
Do not operate the Kia Seltos with the headrests removed. Headrests can provide important head and neck support in a crash.
-
Do not adjust the headrest height while the vehicle is moving. The driver may become distracted or lose control of the vehicle.
CAUTION
Excessive pulling, pushing, twisting, or forcing of the headrest may damage the headrest or its adjustment mechanism.
Seatback pocket
The seatback pocket is located on the back of the front occupant's seatback and is intended for small, lightweight items such as papers, maps, or slim accessories.
WARNING
Seatback pockets
Do not place heavy, sharp, or breakable objects in the seatback pockets. During a sudden stop or collision, these items could come loose from the pocket and injure occupants.
To help keep the Kia Seltos interior safe and comfortable, use the seatback pockets only for light items and make sure stored objects do not interfere with rear passenger space.
Headrest for rear seat
The rear seat of the Kia Seltos is equipped with headrests in all seating positions to help improve passenger comfort and safety.
The headrest not only provides comfort for rear passengers, but also helps protect the head and neck in the event of a collision, especially during a rear impact.
For the best protection in an accident, the headrest should be adjusted so the middle of the headrest is approximately level with the center of gravity of the occupant's head. For most people, this point is near the height of the top of the eyes.
Adjust the headrest as close to the passenger's head as practical. Using a cushion that pushes the body away from the seatback is not recommended, because it can reduce the protective effect of the headrest in the Kia Seltos.
Armrest
To use the rear armrest, pull it forward from the seatback. When not in use, return it to the upright position so the rear seating area of the Kia Seltos remains clear and comfortable for passengers.
