Kia Seltos: Seat belts / Care of seat belts
Contents:
Seat belt systems in the Kia Seltos should never be disassembled, modified, or repaired by the owner. Always make sure the belt webbing, buckles, latches, anchors, and related hardware are not damaged by seat hinges, doors, sharp objects, or improper use.
WARNING
Pinched seat belt
When returning the rear seatback to its upright position, make sure the seat belt webbing and buckle do not become caught or pinched. A trapped or damaged seat belt may not work correctly during a collision or sudden stop.
WARNING
Seat belts can become very hot inside a closed vehicle parked in direct sunlight. Handle them carefully, especially before placing infants or children in the Kia Seltos, because hot buckles or belt hardware may cause burns.
Periodic inspection
All seat belts should be inspected periodically for wear, cuts, fraying, stiffness, contamination, damaged buckles, or other visible defects. Any damaged parts should be replaced as soon as possible to keep the Kia Seltos restraint system reliable.
Keep belts clean and dry
Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If cleaning is required, use a mild soap solution and warm water. Do not use bleach, dye, strong detergents, chemical cleaners, or abrasive products, because they may weaken or damage the belt fabric.
When to replace seat belts
The seat belt assembly should be replaced if the Kia Seltos has been involved in an accident, even if no damage is visible. Collision forces can weaken internal components or webbing. Additional questions about seat belt operation should be directed to an authorized Kia dealer.
