This indicator provides real-time feedback on which exterior light setting is currently selected via the Kia K4 lighting control stalk. You can customize your preferences or toggle the Wiper/Lights Display function on or off through the "User Settings" menu located within the Kia K4 instrument cluster LCD display.

When the windshield washer fluid reservoir in your Kia K4 reaches a critically low level, this warning message will appear on the LCD. We recommend refilling the reservoir promptly with high-quality washer fluid to ensure optimal visibility in all driving conditions.

This is a critical alert for your Kia K4. If this warning appears, it means the engine temperature has exceeded the safe operating limit. For the longevity of your Kia K4, you should stop the vehicle in a safe location immediately and allow the engine to cool down, or contact roadside assistance.

This critical warning message appears on the Kia K4 instrument cluster when the engine coolant temperature exceeds 248°F (120°C). This indicates that the engine has severely overheated, and continued operation may cause permanent, irreversible damage to your Kia K4 engine components.

If your vehicle displays this alert, you must pull over safely and refer to the "If the engine overheats" section of your owner's manual immediately.

Icy road warning

This safety warning in the Kia K4 is designed to alert the driver to potential ice accumulation on the road surface. Whenever the outside temperature gauge detects conditions below approximately 40°F (4°C), the warning light and the temperature readout will blink 5 times, then remain illuminated. Simultaneously, a single warning chime will sound to capture your attention.

WARNING

If the icy road warning appears while you are operating your Kia K4, you must drive with heightened awareness and extreme caution. Avoid high speeds, rapid acceleration, sudden braking, or sharp steering maneuvers, as these actions significantly increase the risk of losing control on slippery surfaces.

Low engine oil

This warning message is displayed when the Kia K4 internal sensor detects an insufficient engine oil level. You should check the oil dipstick and refill the engine oil to the recommended level as soon as possible to avoid engine damage.

Whenever the engine oil level warning light activates, ensure you cross-reference your maintenance records with the schedule outlined in the Kia K4 owner's manual before simply topping off the oil. This notification appears in the Kia K4 information center if the smart key battery is discharged when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button to transition it to the OFF position. Replace the battery in your smart key to ensure reliable vehicle access.

Press START button while turning wheel (for smart key system)

This safety message appears if the Kia K4 steering wheel column lock does not disengage smoothly when you attempt to start the car. To unlock the system, firmly press the ENGINE START/STOP button while simultaneously oscillating the steering wheel left and right to relieve tension on the locking mechanism.

Steering wheel not locked (for smart key system)

This warning message appears on the Kia K4 instrument display if the steering wheel fails to engage its locking mechanism after you have pressed the ENGINE START/STOP button to transition the vehicle to the OFF position. If this persists, please try turning the steering wheel slightly and check for any obstructions in the column area.

Check steering wheel lock system (for smart key system)

This alert indicates a potential fault if the steering wheel lock in your Kia K4 does not engage normally when the engine is turned off. If this notification remains, it is recommended to have your Kia K4 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to ensure the integrity of your security system.

Key not in vehicle (for smart key system)

This safety warning appears if you attempt to press the ENGINE START/STOP button while the smart key is located outside of your Kia K4. Always ensure that the smart key is inside the cabin before attempting to start the engine or operate the vehicle.

Key not detected (for smart key system)

This message appears if your Kia K4 fails to detect the presence of the smart key within the cabin when you press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Ensure the key fob is not obstructed by electronic devices or metal objects and is placed within the detection range inside the vehicle.

Shift to P or N to start engine (for smart key system)

For safety reasons, this warning message appears if you attempt to start your Kia K4 while the transmission gear selector is not in the P (Park) or N (Neutral) position. Please ensure the vehicle is safely in Park before initiating the start sequence.

Press brake pedal to start engine (for smart key system)

This reminder appears if the ENGINE START/STOP button has cycled to the ACC position twice without the brake pedal being depressed. To successfully start the engine of your Kia K4, firmly engage the brake pedal while pressing the start button.

Battery discharging due to external electrical devices

The Kia K4 is equipped with advanced power monitoring capable of detecting excessive battery self-discharge caused by unauthorized or aftermarket electrical accessories, such as a dash camera or auxiliary lighting. If this warning persists even after you have disconnected all external electrical devices, please have your Kia K4 inspected at an authorized Kia dealer to check for potential parasitic draw or electrical system health.

  • This warning message appears if there is a temporary communication error or problem detected with the ENGINE START/STOP button system in your Kia K4.

  • In most cases, you can successfully start the engine by simply pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button again.

  • If this warning occurs consistently every time you attempt to start the Kia K4, please contact an authorized Kia dealer for a professional system inspection.

Press START button with key (for smart key system)

  • This warning message appears when you attempt to press the ENGINE START/STOP button while the system is failing to wirelessly detect your smart key.

  • To override this, press the ENGINE START/STOP button directly with the body of your smart key. During this process, the immobilizer indicator light will blink to confirm the direct signal.

Headlights are Off

This intelligent warning message appears to notify the Kia K4 driver that the headlights are currently OFF while the vehicle is in a dark or low-light environment. We advise switching your headlights to the AUTO or ON position to ensure maximum visibility and safety while driving your Kia K4 at night.
