The LATCH system in the Kia EV6 is designed to hold child restraint systems securely during normal driving conditions as well as in the event of an accident. This advanced anchoring system simplifies CRS installation while helping reduce the risk of incorrect installation.
The LATCH system uses specially designed lower anchors integrated into the vehicle structure along with attachment connectors built into compatible child restraint systems. Because of this design, the system eliminates the need to rely solely on seat belts for securing the child seat.
Lower anchors consist of durable metal bars integrated into the rear seating structure of the Kia EV6. Each compatible LATCH seating position includes two lower anchors designed to accommodate CRS systems equipped with lower anchor attachments.
To use the LATCH system in your Kia EV6, the child restraint system must include compatible LATCH attachment hardware.
The manufacturer of the child restraint system will provide specific instructions explaining how to attach the CRS to the Kia EV6 LATCH lower anchors safely and correctly.
|
LATCH anchors are provided in the left and right outer rear seating positions of the Kia EV6. Their exact locations are illustrated in the accompanying diagram. The center rear seating position does not include dedicated LATCH lower anchors.
WARNING
LATCH lower anchors
Never attempt to install a LATCH-equipped child restraint system in the center rear seating position of the Kia EV6. The LATCH lower anchors are intended exclusively for the left and right outer rear seating positions. Improper use may damage the anchors or cause them to fail during a collision.
The lower anchor position indicator symbols are located on the rear seatbacks of the Kia EV6 to help identify the exact positions of the lower anchors.

The LATCH anchors are positioned between the rear seatback and the rear seat cushion in the left and right outer seating positions of the Kia EV6.
To access and use the lower anchor connection point, gently push aside the upper section of the lower anchor cover before attaching the CRS connectors.
To properly install a LATCH-compatible Child Restraint System (CRS) in either rear outboard seating position of the Kia EV6, carefully follow the procedures below to ensure maximum safety and secure attachment:
Move the rear seat belt buckle away from the lower anchor points before installation. Contact between the lower anchor hardware and the seat belt webbing or buckle could damage the components and compromise their safe operation inside the Kia EV6.
Remove or reposition any objects that could interfere with a solid and secure connection between the child restraint system and the Kia EV6 lower anchors.
Position the CRS on the rear seat of the Kia EV6, then connect the child restraint attachments to the lower anchors according to the installation instructions supplied by the child restraint manufacturer.
Carefully adjust and tighten the lower anchor straps or attachments following the CRS manufacturer’s guidelines so the child restraint remains firmly secured during driving.
WARNING
Take the following precautions when using the LATCH system:
Always read and strictly follow all installation and safety instructions provided with your child restraint system before using it in the Kia EV6.
To prevent children from accessing unused seat belts, buckle all unused rear seat belts before placing a child into the vehicle. Activate the automatic locking mode according to the instructions in the Kia EV6 owner’s manual, and position the unused seat belt webbing behind the child restraint or against an unused seatback. A loose shoulder belt can become wrapped around a child’s neck and may create a strangulation hazard.
Never attach more than one child restraint system to a single lower anchor point. Excessive load may cause the anchor or attachment hardware to loosen, fail, or break during a collision.
After any accident involving the Kia EV6, have the complete LATCH anchoring system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. Collision damage may weaken the anchor system and reduce its ability to properly secure the CRS.
NOTE
The recommended maximum combined weight for the LATCH system in the Kia EV6 is 65 lbs. (30 kg). When selecting an appropriate child restraint system, remember that the total combined weight of the child and the CRS should not exceed this limit.
As a general guideline, the maximum allowable child restraint system weight can be estimated using the following calculation:
Child Restraint System Weight = 65 - (child’s total weight in lbs.)

Before attaching the tether strap, first secure the child restraint system in the Kia EV6 using either the LATCH lower anchors or the lap/shoulder seat belt system. If recommended by the CRS manufacturer, attach the tether strap to the designated tether anchor and tighten it securely.
The tether anchor points in the Kia EV6 are positioned on the rear seatbacks and are specifically designed to improve child seat stability during sudden stops or collisions.
WARNING
Take the following precautions when installing the tether:
Always read and follow every installation instruction supplied by the child restraint manufacturer before securing the CRS inside the Kia EV6.
Never attach more than one CRS to a single tether anchor. Excessive stress may cause the anchor or tether attachment to loosen or fail.
Do not connect the tether strap to any component other than the designated tether anchor. Using an incorrect attachment point may prevent the child restraint from functioning properly during a collision.
Do not use the tether anchor points in the Kia EV6 for adult seat belts, cargo straps, harnesses, or any equipment unrelated to child restraint systems.
Always fasten unused seat belts behind the child restraint system whenever they are not being used to secure the CRS. Loose seat belts may present a strangulation risk for children.
To install the tether anchor:
|
Route the tether strap over the rear seatback. In Kia EV6 models equipped with adjustable head restraints, guide the tether under the headrest and between the headrest supports. If necessary, route the tether over the top of the seatback according to the CRS manufacturer’s recommendations.
Attach the tether hook securely to the tether anchor, then tighten the tether strap following the instructions supplied by the CRS manufacturer to firmly secure the child restraint system to the Kia EV6 seat.
After installation, verify that the CRS is firmly attached by pushing and pulling the child seat forward and side-to-side. Minimal movement indicates correct installation.
When the LATCH system is not being used, all child restraint systems installed in the Kia EV6 must be securely fastened to the rear seat using the lap portion of the lap/shoulder seat belt. Proper installation and belt tightening are essential for maintaining maximum child passenger protection.
Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
Driver Attention Warning function The Kia EV6 Driver Attention Warning function monitors driving patterns, steering behavior, lane position, and vehicle movement to help determine whether driver attention may be decreasing. When the system determines that the driver’s attention level has dropped below a certain threshold, Driver Attention Warning may recommend taking a break to support safer driving.Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Head-Up Display (HUD) : (if equipped)
The Kia EV6 Head-Up Display (HUD) is an advanced transparent projection system that displays important driving information directly onto the windshield within the driver’s field of vision. This technology allows the Kia EV6 driver to monitor critical driving information without taking attention away from the road ahead. The HUD system can display information from the instrument cluster, navigation system, and various driver assistance technologies in real time.
