The green arrow appears after the Kia EV6 Highway Lane Change Assist function begins operating and remains visible until the lane change has been completed successfully.
Message
A warning or information message appears if Highway Lane Change Assist cannot operate when the turn signal lever is used.
A message also appears when Highway Lane Change Assist is canceled during operation because of road, traffic, or system conditions.
The Highway Lane Change Assist function in the Kia EV6 turns on when the following conditions are satisfied.
The Driving Assist button or Lane Driving Assist button is used to activate Highway Driving Assist.
The OK button on the steering wheel is pressed while the cluster displays a message asking whether to use Highway Lane Change Assist.
Turning ON Highway Lane Change Assist
|
|
Highway Lane Change Assist is ready to operate when the function is ON and all of the following operating conditions are satisfied:
Highway Driving Assist is currently operating.
Lane Following Assist is operating correctly.
A vehicle in the rear detection area has been recognized at least once after the Kia EV6 was turned on.
Your driving speed is above 37 mph (60 km/h).
At lower speeds, the function operates only if vehicles in the left and right adjacent lanes are properly recognized and there is no detected collision risk during the lane change maneuver.
Low speeds: 20–40 mph (30–60 km/h)
No hands-off steering wheel warning is displayed on the cluster.
The hazard warning lights are turned OFF.
NOTE
While Highway Lane Change Assist is ON, Lane Following Assist in the Kia EV6 will not be canceled even if the turn signal indicators or hazard warning lights are operating.
Highway Lane Change Assist automatically turns OFF under the following driving conditions:
There is only one driving lane available.
The road does not have physical center separation structures such as guardrails or barriers.
The road ahead contains intersections, crossroads, or pedestrian crosswalks.
A pedestrian, cyclist, or vulnerable road user is detected ahead.
If the Kia EV6 speed falls below 15 mph (25 km/h) while Highway Lane Change Assist is ready to operate, the system status changes to standby mode.
At lower speeds, the function changes to standby if vehicles in the left and right adjacent lanes are not properly recognized.
Low speeds: 20–40 mph (30–60 km/h)
The Highway Lane Change Assist status changes to standby whenever the Kia EV6 detects a possible collision risk or unsafe lane change condition.
The displayed images, colors, symbols, and graphics may appear differently depending on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster specification, display theme, or software version.
WARNING
When Highway Lane Change Assist turns OFF, steering assistance is temporarily canceled. Always remain attentive, keep your hands on the steering wheel, and drive the Kia EV6 cautiously at all times.
Highway Lane Change Assist operation
|
|
1 middle
Highway Lane Change Assist in the Kia EV6 will operate when you move the turn signal lever to the (3) or (2)
position
while the function is in the ready state ((
) indicator is green), and all of the
following
conditions are satisfied:
The driver keeps at least one hand on the steering wheel and remains ready to take control.
There is no detected risk of collision in the lane change direction.
The road has at least two lanes, and the lane line in the intended lane change direction is a broken line of any recognized color.
No Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist or Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist warning is active.
The Kia EV6 is being driven near the center of the current lane and is not positioned too close to either side of the lane.
The road you are currently driving on, or the lane into which you intend to move, satisfies the operating requirements for Highway Lane Change Assist.
NOTE
When the turn signal lever is moved to the (3) position, Highway Lane Change Assist begins the lane change operation. If the turn signal lever is returned to the neutral position before the Kia EV6 reaches the lane line, Highway Lane Change Assist is canceled.
After the vehicle crosses the lane line, Highway Lane Change Assist does not cancel immediately. The function is canceled and the turn signal turns OFF when the lane change is completed.
When the turn signal lever is held in the (2) position for a certain period of time, the green arrow appears. At this point, even if the lever is released and returns to its original position, the Kia EV6 may continue assisting the lane change.
While the lane change is being performed by the function, the turn signal indicator continues blinking even if the turn signal lever is not held. The turn signal indicator turns off automatically when the lane change is complete.
Highway Lane Change Assist standby
Highway Lane Change Assist enters standby state when one or more ready-state conditions are not satisfied, or when the Kia EV6 enters or drives on one of the following road types:
Main highway roads located within a certain distance of a tollgate.
A road section ahead that ends without continuing through an interchange or junction.
Sharply curved roads where safe lane change assistance may not be possible.
Roads with narrow lanes or insufficient lane width for reliable assistance.
Canceling Highway Lane Change Assist
Highway Lane Change Assist is canceled in the following situations:
The turn signal lever is operated in the opposite direction of the intended lane change.
The driver turns the steering wheel too sharply or makes a strong steering input.
The driver moves the turn signal lever to the (1) position while Lane Change Assist is operating, then returns the turn signal lever to the neutral position before the Kia EV6 changes lanes.
WARNING
While the function is operating, Highway Lane Change Assist will cancel if any of the following situations occur:
Highway Driving Assist is turned OFF.
Lane Following Assist or Smart Cruise Control is turned OFF or temporarily canceled.
A hands-off warning message appears on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster.
The turn signal lever is placed in the A position.
The hazard warning lights are turned ON.
The instrument cluster displays a Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist or Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist warning message.
The Kia EV6 detects a possible collision in an adjacent lane, even if Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist warnings are not displayed.
The target lane for the lane change disappears.
The target lane for the lane change cannot be detected.
There is a problem with the turn signal lamps.
Highway Lane Change Assist is turned off. The function may turn off when it is disabled from the settings menu, when the road changes to a one-way road, when an intersection or crosswalk is ahead, when the Kia EV6 enters a road without a center separation structure such as a median strip or guardrail, or when a pedestrian or cyclist is detected in the driving lane.
If you drive below 15 mph (25 km/h) when Lane Change Assist is ready to operate, the function status changes to standby.
When driving at low speeds, the vehicle changes to standby state if vehicles in the left and right adjacent lanes are not properly recognized.
Low speeds: 20–40 mph (30–60 km/h)
The Kia EV6 detects a collision risk or an unsafe lane change condition.
When Highway Lane Change Assist is canceled during operation, the vehicle may return toward the center of the driving lane, or steering assistance may stop depending on road and traffic conditions. Always pay close attention to the road, lane markings, surrounding vehicles, and driving conditions while using this Kia EV6 feature.
The function may not operate normally on roads where pedestrians or cyclists may be present, such as intersections, crosswalks, urban roads, or mixed-traffic areas. Always drive carefully and be prepared to steer or brake manually.
