Power limited due to low EV battery temperature. Charge battery

This warning message appears on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster whenever any door, the hood, the liftgate, or the sunroof remains open or is not fully secured.

The system clearly identifies which opening remains unsecured by displaying the corresponding warning location directly on the instrument cluster screen.

The Kia EV6 warning display system is designed to improve driver awareness and help prevent driving with improperly closed vehicle openings.

Driving with the hood, liftgate, or doors partially open may reduce safety, increase wind noise, and allow water or dust to enter the vehicle interior.

NOTE

Before operating the Kia EV6, always confirm that all doors, the hood, the liftgate, and the sunroof are completely closed and securely latched.

Also verify that no open-door, hood, liftgate, or sunroof warning message remains visible on the instrument cluster display.

Sunroof open warning display: (if equipped)

This warning message is displayed if the Kia EV6 is turned off while the sunroof remains open or partially opened.

Always close the sunroof completely before leaving the vehicle to help protect the interior from rain, dust, snow, or unauthorized access.

The sunroof warning system in the Kia EV6 is intended to reduce the possibility of accidentally leaving the panoramic roof open after parking the vehicle.

Lights mode

This display indicates which exterior lighting mode is currently selected using the Kia EV6 lighting control switch.

The instrument cluster can display parking lights, headlamp mode, automatic lighting operation, and OFF mode status information.

You may activate or deactivate the Wiper/Lights Display function through the infotainment settings menu of the Kia EV6.

The lighting mode display helps drivers quickly confirm the current exterior lighting status while driving in different weather and visibility conditions.

Wiper mode

This display indicates the currently selected windshield wiper operating speed using the Kia EV6 wiper control switch.

You can enable or disable the Wiper/Lights Display feature through the infotainment system settings menu.

The Kia EV6 wiper mode display provides convenient visual confirmation of the active windshield wiper setting during rain or poor weather conditions.

Low-key battery

This warning message appears when the battery inside the Kia EV6 smart key becomes weak or discharged.

Replace the smart key battery as soon as possible to maintain proper remote locking, unlocking, and vehicle start functions.

If the smart key battery becomes completely discharged, some convenience features of the Kia EV6 may not operate correctly.

Press brake pedal to start vehicle

This warning message is displayed if the EV button changes to the POWER ON position after repeatedly pressing the button without depressing the brake pedal.

To start the Kia EV6 correctly, firmly press the brake pedal while pressing the EV button.

This safety feature helps prevent unintended vehicle activation.

Key not in vehicle

This warning message appears if the smart key is not detected inside the Kia EV6 when the EV button is pressed.

Always carry the smart key inside the vehicle when attempting to start or operate the Kia EV6.

If the smart key remains outside the vehicle, the EV system may not start and certain functions may become unavailable.

Key not detected

This warning message appears when the Kia EV6 cannot properly detect the smart key while the EV button is pressed.

Possible causes include a discharged smart key battery, electronic interference, or the smart key being located outside the vehicle.

Move the smart key closer to the center console or wireless charging area and attempt to start the Kia EV6 again.

Press EV button again

This message appears if the Kia EV6 fails to start after pressing the EV button.

If this occurs, attempt to start the vehicle again by pressing the EV button once more while depressing the brake pedal.

If the warning message continues appearing repeatedly, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Press EV button with key

This warning message appears if the EV button is pressed while the “Key not detected” message remains active on the instrument cluster.

Ensure that the Kia EV6 smart key is inside the vehicle and properly recognized before attempting to start the vehicle again.

Shift to P to start vehicle

This warning message appears if you attempt to start the Kia EV6 without the gear selector being placed in the P (Park) position.

Shift the vehicle into P (Park) before pressing the EV button to start the vehicle safely.

Shift to P

This warning message appears if you attempt to turn off the Kia EV6 while the gear selector remains in the N (Neutral) position.

In this situation, the EV button changes to the POWER ON position instead of turning completely off.

If you press the EV button once more after shifting to P (Park), the vehicle can be fully turned off normally.

Battery discharging due to external electrical devices

This warning message appears if the Kia EV6 12V battery voltage becomes weak because of connected non-factory electrical accessories or aftermarket devices.

Examples may include dash cameras, external lighting equipment, or additional electronic accessories connected to the vehicle electrical system.

Check that the battery is not excessively discharged and disconnect unnecessary external devices if possible.

If the warning message continues appearing even after removing non-factory electrical accessories, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Low washer fluid

This warning message appears when the windshield washer fluid level inside the washer reservoir becomes low.

Refill the washer fluid reservoir with an approved washer solution as soon as possible to maintain proper windshield cleaning performance.

The Kia EV6 washer fluid warning system helps improve visibility and driving safety during rain, snow, or dusty road conditions.

Shift to P to charge

This warning message appears if the charging cable is connected while the Kia EV6 gear selector is not in the P (Park) position.

Always shift the vehicle into P (Park) before connecting the charging cable to begin charging safely.

This safety protection helps prevent unintended vehicle movement during charging operations.

Low EV battery

When the Kia EV6 high-voltage battery charge level decreases to approximately 20% (or 25% for standard battery versions), this warning message appears on the instrument cluster.

The warning light (Kia EV6 low EV battery warning indicator icon) also illuminates simultaneously.

Charge the Kia EV6 battery as soon as possible to help avoid reduced driving range and limited vehicle performance.

Charge immediately. Power limited

When the Kia EV6 high-voltage battery charge level drops to approximately 10% (15% for standard battery versions) or below, this warning message appears.

The warning light (Kia EV6 critical low battery warning indicator) and the power reduction indicator light (Kia EV6 power limited warning symbol) illuminate simultaneously on the instrument cluster.

At very low battery levels, the Kia EV6 may automatically reduce available driving power in order to protect the high-voltage battery system.

Recharge the vehicle immediately to prevent further power limitation or possible vehicle shutdown.

To help minimize energy consumption of the high-voltage battery system, the available driving power of the Kia EV6 may be reduced automatically under certain conditions. Recharge the battery immediately to restore normal vehicle performance and driving range.

Check electric vehicle system

This warning message appears when the Kia EV6 detects a malfunction or abnormal condition within the electric vehicle control system.

The warning may indicate a problem related to the high-voltage battery system, electric motor, inverter, charging system, or other critical EV control components.

The Kia EV6 continuously monitors major electric vehicle systems to help ensure safe operation and protect high-voltage components from damage.

WARNING

Do not continue driving the Kia EV6 if this warning message remains displayed on the instrument cluster.

If this warning occurs, safely park the vehicle in a secure location away from traffic and contact an authorized Kia dealer.

Have the vehicle transported by towing service and inspected professionally before attempting to drive again.

Power limited

In the following situations, the Kia EV6 may display this warning message when vehicle output power becomes temporarily limited for safety protection.

  • Vehicle power may be restricted to protect high-voltage electric vehicle components and ensure safe system operation. Unless both the Service Warning Light and Power Down Indicator Light illuminate simultaneously, this condition does not necessarily indicate a malfunction.

  • The high-voltage battery charge level is critically low or battery voltage is decreasing rapidly.

  • The high-voltage battery temperature is excessively high or extremely low.

  • The electric drive motor temperature has increased beyond the normal operating range.

The Kia EV6 power management system automatically limits output under certain conditions to help prevent damage to major EV components and maintain long-term battery reliability.

NOTE

When this warning message is displayed, avoid sudden acceleration or aggressive driving behavior. Recharge the Kia EV6 battery immediately if the battery level becomes insufficient.

NOTE

When vehicle power is limited to protect high-powered electric vehicle components, the power-down indicator light will illuminate.

While the indicator remains active, the Kia EV6 may experience reduced acceleration performance and may not maintain position properly on steep slopes because of limited available driving power.

Power limited due to low EV battery temperature. Charge battery

This warning message appears to protect the Kia EV6 electric vehicle system when the high-voltage battery temperature becomes extremely low while turning the vehicle ON.

Vehicle output power may become restricted if the high-voltage battery charge level is low and the Kia EV6 has remained parked outdoors in very cold weather conditions for an extended period of time.

Charging the battery before driving helps increase battery temperature and may improve available driving performance and acceleration.

The Kia EV6 battery thermal management system is designed to protect the high-voltage battery pack during severe winter operating conditions.

CAUTION

If this warning message continues appearing even when the outside temperature is sufficiently warm, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

EV Battery Overheated! Stop vehicle

This warning message is displayed to protect the Kia EV6 battery system and electric vehicle components when the high-voltage battery temperature becomes excessively high.

If this warning appears, stop the vehicle in a safe location and press the EV button to the OFF position to help reduce battery temperature.

High battery temperatures may occur during repeated high-load driving, fast charging under extreme conditions, or operation in very hot weather environments.

WARNING

If this warning message continues to appear even after the Kia EV6 has remained turned OFF for sufficient cooling time, do not continue driving the vehicle.

Have the vehicle inspected immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.

Stop vehicle and check power supply

This warning message appears when the Kia EV6 detects a malfunction within the 12V electrical power supply system.

The issue may involve the auxiliary battery, DC-DC converter, charging circuitry, or related electrical components.

If this warning appears, safely park the Kia EV6 in an appropriate location and arrange transportation to the nearest authorized Kia dealer for inspection.

Unplug vehicle to start

This message appears when attempting to start the Kia EV6 while the charging cable remains connected to the charging inlet.

For safety reasons, the Kia EV6 cannot shift out of the Park position while the charging connector is attached.

Disconnect the charging cable completely before starting the vehicle and attempting to drive.

Charging Door Open

This message appears if the Kia EV6 is driven while the charging door remains open.

Stop the vehicle safely if necessary and securely close the charging door before continuing to drive.

Driving with the charging door open may damage the charging door mechanism or allow dirt, moisture, or debris to enter the charging area.

Remaining Time

This message displays the estimated remaining charging time required for the Kia EV6 battery to reach the selected target charge level.

The displayed charging time estimate may vary depending on charging voltage, charger output, battery temperature, battery condition, and surrounding environmental conditions.

The Kia EV6 charging system continuously updates the estimated remaining charging time during charging operation.

Charging Stopped. Check the charger

This warning message appears if charging stops because of one of the following conditions:

  • A malfunction or abnormal condition exists with the external AC or DC charger.

  • The external charging station unexpectedly stopped supplying power.

  • The charging cable has become damaged or disconnected improperly.

If this warning appears, inspect the external charger and charging cable for visible damage or operational problems.

If the same warning continues appearing while using a known properly functioning charger or a genuine Kia portable charger (sold separately), have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

The Kia EV6 charging management system continuously monitors charging safety and automatically interrupts charging if abnormal conditions are detected.

Charging Stopped. Check the cable connection

This warning message appears for the following reasons:

  • The charging connector is not fully or correctly connected to the Kia EV6 charging inlet.

  • The charging connector lock release button was pressed during charging.

If this occurs, disconnect the charging connector and reconnect it securely.

Carefully inspect the charging connector and charging inlet for external damage, dirt, moisture, or foreign materials.

If the same problem continues occurring while using another charging cable or a genuine Kia portable charger (sold separately), have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Check regenerative brakes

This warning message appears if the regenerative braking system of the Kia EV6 is not operating correctly.

Regenerative braking helps recover energy during deceleration and contributes to improved battery efficiency and driving range.

If this warning appears, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

Check Virtual vehicle Sound System

This warning message appears if a malfunction is detected within the Kia EV6 Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS).

The Virtual Engine Sound System generates an artificial external sound to help pedestrians and nearby drivers recognize the presence of the electric vehicle at lower speeds.

If this warning message appears, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Check Active Air Flap System

This warning message may appear under the following conditions:

  • A malfunction exists within the active air flap actuator mechanism.

  • The active air flap controller system is operating abnormally.

The Active Air Flap System of the Kia EV6 helps optimize aerodynamic efficiency and battery cooling performance by automatically controlling airflow through the front grille area.

Once the abnormal condition is corrected, the warning message should disappear automatically.

Refill coolant

This warning message appears when the coolant level within the Kia EV6 cooling system becomes low.

If this warning appears, stop driving as soon as it is safe and inspect the coolant level carefully.

Operating the Kia EV6 with insufficient coolant for extended periods may cause serious damage to electric vehicle components, battery cooling systems, or other high-voltage equipment.

Continued driving with low coolant may eventually make normal vehicle operation impossible.
