The front view camera of the Kia EV6 is used as the primary detection sensor for the High Beam Assist system.
The camera continuously monitors surrounding brightness, approaching vehicles, taillights, and road lighting conditions while driving.
Please refer to the Detecting sensor(s) section for additional details regarding applicable sensors and installation locations.
CAUTION
Always keep the Kia EV6 front view camera clean and unobstructed to maintain proper High Beam Assist system performance.
For more information regarding the front view camera system, refer to the Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA) (Sensor Fusion) section.

With the Kia EV6 in the DRIVE READY position, select Setup > Vehicle > Lights > High Beam Assist from the Settings menu to activate the High Beam Assist function.
The Kia EV6 allows drivers to customize various intelligent lighting functions directly through the infotainment system settings menu.
WARNING
For safety reasons, always change Kia EV6 lighting settings only after parking the vehicle safely.
After enabling the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist feature in the Settings menu, the HBA system operates according to the following procedure.
Place the headlamp switch in the AUTO position and push the headlamp lever toward the
instrument cluster. The HBA (
) indicator appears on the Kia EV6
instrument cluster, confirming that the High Beam Assist function has been activated.
When the Kia EV6 HBA system is enabled, the high beam headlights automatically turn on when vehicle speed exceeds approximately 20 mph (30 km/h).
The High Beam (
) indicator appears on the cluster
whenever
the high beams are active.
When vehicle speed drops below approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), the high beams do not activate
automatically, and the white High Beam Assist (
) indicator
remains displayed
instead.
While the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system is operating, using the headlamp lever or lighting switch changes HBA operation as follows:
If the headlamp lever is pulled toward you while the high beams are OFF, the high beams turn ON manually.
When the lever is released, the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system resumes automatic operation.
If the headlamp lever is pulled toward you while the high beams are already ON, the low beams activate and High Beam Assist operation is canceled.
To manually activate the high beams and disable Kia EV6 HBA operation, push the lighting control lever toward the instrument cluster.
If the headlamp switch is moved from the AUTO position to another lighting position (Headlamp / Position / OFF), the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist function turns OFF automatically and the selected lamp mode activates.
While the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system is operating, the high beams automatically switch to low beams under any of the following conditions:
When the headlights of an approaching oncoming vehicle are detected.
When the taillights of a vehicle driving ahead are detected.
When the headlamp or taillamp of a motorcycle or bicycle is recognized.
When surrounding ambient lighting conditions become bright enough that high beams are no longer necessary.
When streetlights, illuminated road signs, or other external light sources are detected.
The Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system is designed to improve nighttime visibility while reducing glare for surrounding drivers.
NOTE
Depending on Kia EV6 instrument cluster specifications, software themes, or display configurations, some colors, graphics, or indicator images may appear differently.
High Beam Assist Malfunction

A: Check Driver Assistance system |
If the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system does not operate properly, a warning message appears on the instrument
cluster
together with the warning light (
).
If this warning appears, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.
The Kia EV6 continuously monitors the operation of the front view camera and intelligent lighting systems to maintain safe High Beam Assist performance.
Limitations of High Beam Assist (HBA)
The Kia EV6 may not detect light from another vehicle under certain driving conditions.
A vehicle headlamp may be covered by snow, dirt, water, mud, or road debris.
A vehicle may be operating with headlights turned OFF while only fog lamps or auxiliary lamps are active.
The Kia EV6 front camera may mistakenly recognize a bright light source or reflection as a vehicle headlamp.
Vehicle headlights may be damaged, misaligned, or improperly repaired.
The headlamps of nearby vehicles may not be aimed correctly.
You may be driving on narrow, winding, uneven, steep, or rough roads.
A vehicle ahead may only be partially visible while driving through curves or intersections.
Traffic lights, reflective signs, mirrors, or flashing lights may interfere with camera detection.
Temporary reflective objects or construction lighting may appear ahead on the roadway.
Road conditions may be wet, icy, snow-covered, or otherwise slippery.
A vehicle may suddenly appear from around a curve or hill.
The Kia EV6 may become tilted because of a flat tire or towing situation.
Vehicle lights may not be detected correctly because of fog, smoke, snow, heavy rain, or other environmental obstructions.
The Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system is intended as a supplemental convenience feature and may not function perfectly under all road or weather conditions.
NOTE
For more information regarding front view camera limitations, refer to the Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA) (Sensor Fusion) section of the Kia EV6 owner’s manual.
WARNING
Under certain driving conditions, the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system may not operate correctly. The driver remains fully responsible for safe vehicle operation and must always monitor surrounding road conditions carefully.
If the Kia EV6 High Beam Assist system does not function normally, manually switch between high beam and low beam headlights as necessary.
